Wondering why no Japanese Torpedo upgrades are in the game.....

In the actual war there were modifications to all of the Japanese torpedos....The Long Lance really turns into a more deadly weapon with an additional 63% increase in high explosive in 43.

The 24" Type 93 "Long Lance" starts the game as loaded with 1080 lbs. of HE
In 1943 - model 3 upgrades it to 1716 lbs. HE

The 18" Type 91 A/C Torpedo starts the game as loaded with 528 lbs. of HE
In 1944 (early) - model 4 upgrades it to 675 lbs. of HE
In 1944 (late) - model 7 upgrades it to 920 lbs. of HE

The 21" Type 95 Torpedo starts the game as loaded with 893 lbs. of HE
In 1943 - model 2 upgrades it to 1210 lbs. of HE

Maybe something for a mod - but torpedo accuracy is already too high (and I'm a JFB) so I think it would be bad to increase explosive power unless accuracy was decreased.

But the 24" Type 93 has a 50 accuracy compared to the US MK 14 which has a 46 accuracy rating....does not seem that it is over accurate to me.....

But the Long Lance should get a decrease in range when the model was put into operation....it lost a compressed oxygen tank to make room for more High Explosives...

Model 1 49 knots - 22,000 yards
40 knots - 35,000 yards
36 knots - 44,000 yards

Model 3 49 knots - 16,400 yards
40 knots - 27,300 yards
36 knots - 32,000 yards

The loss of range would be a positive advantage.  I'm sick of the computer launching all my torps at 22Km - never hit anything from there

I guess long lances are okay, I was just thinking about air torps. They hit way too often (and are used to often, but that is another dead horse) - regardless of what the stats are.

Another question is what version of the Long Lance is modelized in the game. I have never watched torpedo details, but for example for AC (in stock) while the Oscar II is the terminal version of the Ki-43 in the game, it was replaced in 44 by the Oscar III, and in the other hand the Ki-61 of the game is not the early version of the fighter but a latter version with more firepower.

Actually for torpedoes the accuracy field is used for the speed (in knots) of the torpedo.

Probably for the same reason that the "failure/dud" rate for them doesn't increase from perhaps 2% at the start of the war to about 20% towards the last year (quality control in torpedo construction went to hell in a handbasket --- as it did in many other cases).

If you want the torpedoes to upgrade, you'll have to make a MOD. The improved torpedoes can be squeezed into the device slots, there are lots of German aircraft weapons whose slots you could use for the purpose. To get them on ships, you would have to switch the torpedo devices on ship upgrade versions, which should be no problem. To get improved airborne torpedoes on aircraft would however mean creating new aircraft types, or you might define late war types (B7A, P1Y, maybe G4M2) as carrying improved torpedoes (again, by switching the device). Otherwise, no device on ships or aircraft ever gets updated.
