Hi Guys!

In my campaign vs. Mandrake "From Here it SEEMS like an Eternity...", I have a major problem. In middle of landing at Perth, I have had an entire CV TF disappear from the game! The map doesn't contain the force that was about 6 hexes from Perth.

I have lost CV Soryu, 2 CVLs, and 2 CVE!

Checked the ship spreadsheet and they weren't even LISTED. They weren't int he sunk list. I did find CVE UNyo disbanded in Toyko where the day before it was off of Perth...

WEIRD!!!

What should I do? I asked my opponents to resend the turn and I will re-run it.

Should I send them the turn again from the previous day?

Help...
John

This is kind of s shot in the dark - if it happens with a re-send, then see if your opponent can make one change to his orders, then re-send. I am assuming it's too late for you to make a change to your orders.

If nothing works, the moderators might be able to fix the file.

I always have two slots for each of my PBEM games. Right now I have slot 10 for the game and the one I use to end the orders phase and e-mail to my opponent. I use slot 8 as a back up and I just save my last turn without hitting the "E" so I can go in and look at the game while my opponent is doing his turn, if needed. I know it sounds like something everyone should do and I hope you have done the same thing.

Hopefully you can make an orders change and rerun the turn. If not, sent it to a moderator.

I do this as well.

Also, unless you both have deleted your earlier emails, the previous turns still exist as attachments in your email applications.

Is 6 hexes west of Perth column 1?
If I recall there have been problems with TFs getting stuck in column 1 (or being forced to retreat into column 0 and getting stuck). I know this is not your issue but the 'column 1' could be a common factor

Yes column 1 is not a good place to be... My opponent once lost a 100-ship convoy when BB Kongo attacked it and it retreated out of the map... so being totally lost with its cargo...

Yeah, i had a convoy avoid a sub, and it sailed off the edge of the world.

Good news is i DID get it back when we reran the turn... but i am really compulsive about keeping saves of every turn, so i had it to rerun...

I've asked the guys to do a re-send for the previous turn.  If that doesn't work then we shall back up a day and see that helps.  I didn't know about the column 1/0 issues!  NEAT...

Off course not

The world is flat like a disc will be, but is a square, everybody can see that...

We still need to determine if the turle is male or female!

Good to know you'll be able to recover from this, John!

well...
...the world is round...
...and a disc is round...
...therefore...
...the disc is the world!

We have decided to back up two turns and try this again.  No changes of orders allowed and we'll see if the hexline 0 and 1 was the culprit.  I was unaware of this issue and feel stupid for finding out about it the hard way...

Will update this thread when we run the turns again...

Thanks for all the advice.

I can't wait to see how Mandrake's AAR handles this little time warp.

I lost 2 CLs off that edge of the map. They weren't in column 1, they were in columns 2 or 3 steaming north. One CL eventually reappered as a reinforcement, although it never showed up as sunk. I view the edge of the map as something of a Bermuda Triangle and keep all ships at least 4 hexes from the edge.

IMO what may happen is that the AI charts a course off the map.

Definatly female, it's called out in one of the books, can't remember which one.

Maybe one of the later books then, I haven't read the last two or three yet. (Too many books on my "To Be Read" wall.) Last I knew the Unseen University was planning an expedition to determine the answer.
