Hi,
first of all thanks for the different threads that deal with the AI of AE. It is , if i get it correctly, a complete rewrite of the stock AI, or at least much different.
my question is, how does the AI make its decisions.
let's take the following example.
it is april 1942 and Japan (the AI) has expanded and conquered the area japan had historically about this time.
for the second operational phase, there are different possibilities.
a) renew the war in China
b) attack and invade India
c)attack and invade part of or all of Australia
d) expand into the southwest-pacific, cutting the lifeline between Australia and the USA
e) attack Midway and maybe Hawaii
f) attack Russia
does the AI like "roll dice" and decide?
are these choices available for the AI.
I know this is a complicated thing, but maybe a general outline of how the AI makes its decisions is possible
thanks

I think it best if we do not know what the AI does.

Agreed. A better question might be, "Does the AI have scipts available that would take the war in a different direction if the AI achieved the historical expansion earlier than reality. In other words, does the AI have a plan available beyond say June 1942. My guess is it does and it will be far more unpredictable than in WITP-stock

Thats another way to say what i had in mind by starting this thread.
actually, i do not want to know what the AI will be up to, i would like to know what the AI is capable off.

BTW, knowing the routines of the AI still does not need to give you a head start. Anyone who knows the VG boardgames of "Carrier" and "Tokyo Express", which are both solitaire games, knows that although you know what the AI is up to and even how it will behave, it can still give you a very nasty surprise.

The AI has scripts all the way to 46 for both sides

Just to lower the bar a little please remember all we are promising is as good as stock - no more

I may personally believe its better but thats all I am willing to promise - no lynchmobs after release please

We are too far to form an effective lynchmob

since i generally start off with the japanese and change sides later, that will be sufficient. The stock AI does a decent job while on defense. I copy what is available as "Typhon sur le pacific" a french solitaire boardgame about the pacific war where you start of as the japanese until the allied AI does a successful counterattack. after that, you switch sides. The game has different defensive plans, first for the allies, and for the japanese of course. The offensive has to be done by the player.
of course, playing against a human opponent would be more fun, but oh well, time...
