Hi everyone,

The 1.23 Update is now available as a Public Beta via our Members Club While we do final testing we figured we'd offer you a change to get it early as well. This is still a beta, but it's stable and solid as far as we can tell. Barring any major issues being found, this will become the official update.

You can download this as a Registered Download as long as you have registered your Guns of August serial number in our Members Club (click on the MEMBERS link in the top nav bar).

Change list for 1.23
1. Fixes the surrender issues that have been mentioned.
2. Adds an ini file (in the same folder as the exe) that records your opening screen choices so that things like Screen Res don't have to be set each and every time.
3. Made some AI improvements to R&D decisions and HQ Activations (making the AI a little more aggressive).
4. Changed the Political display so that some information on countries not leaning to the player's side is shown. Sort of an in-between to full knowledge and no knowledge of when an enemy is going to enter the war.
5. Made control of Alexandria and Cairo necessary for Britain to receive the Eastern Med resources. If only 1 of the cities is held the British receive only 1 resource.

You could have warned us that it incorporates the map and counter mods too - as someone who dislikes them it's a bit annoying to find them as the new de facto.

I see there's now a front screen option to use the originals, which makes changing back nice & easy!

I like he map mod but detest the NATO counters. How can one use one but not the other?

Hi Venator,

1. Using windows explorer, navigate to c:\Matrix Games\Guns of August\GRAPHICS

2. Right-click on the folder named COUNTERS, and then left-click on "Rename". Give it the new name of COUNTERS-original.

3. Right-click on the folder named COUNTERS - Copy, then left-click on "Rename". Give it the new name of COUNTERS.

This should do it!

Thanks. The NATO counters are well done but I just don't like the style... prefer pictures to symbols for this game.

its in the registered download section. it says 7.february but version 1.23

Frank,
He is referring to the "1.23 warning" thread that erroneously stated that the jump map was no longer visible. Turns out he had set his is resolution too high to see it. There is nothing unplayable about 1.23 as far as I can see.

FYI Frank, I found a small misspelling in v1.23 beta. The British BC "Indefatigable" is misspelled as "Indefatiguable".

And I assume someone by now has spelt Luxembourg correctly on the map.
