why when I have a unit by some units they are still a ? so I dont know what it is, what can I do to prevent that?

attack it.

Or use air recce, or put more scouts and armoured cars into your formations.

ok, so air recce, which my 41 russians dont seem to have, some fighters and bombers but none around those units, and armored cars, got it

It's all to do with Recon value of the hex, which you can see if you select it. Red = BAD, Green = GOOD.
