:) I've been a late starter on going thru the MCs. But now
I've started Desert Fox and I just want to comment on that 1st
scenario by Neil Stalker. His interpretation is skillful and damned
clever. The thing that strikes me is how decieving it is. The reality is that, while it is entirely possible for even a novice to
go in and take the objectives in the alotted time; the question is:
At what price? The Germans have a lavish force available, --but... ponderous. Traffic control actually becomes an issue
during my chosen strategy. Its so easy for the human player to
get all overcome by this wealth that it is easy to fall into the psychological trap of actually trying to run it all over the map in an effort to overwhelm the British. What I began to realize too late, is that, the British force is lean, low value, and when dug in as it is, can extract an unacceptabel attrition toll without much effort. In spite of the firepower, the German is compelled to operate
with a high degree of efficiency, limit his exposure to fire (which
means not running all over hell with everything available
), and patiently use specific resources on an as needed basis.
I'll make an analogy. Kicking the British out of Agheila is kind of
like wiping up a grease stain with the only piece of cloth currently available: Your $400.00 Brooks Brothers suit. Question is....
What part of the suit do you use? hmmm..

Thanks Greg. Old Neil S, aka "DIngo," is one of our best. He did a number of scenarios in this one.

I'm glad you are enjoying it. I hope it continues to be fun for you.

Ha. There are 3 recurring themes to posts about MCNA:

1. 2 pounders
2. Matilda's
3. that anti tank rifle thingy

:D

I put the MCNA away for a while, but will return eventually. I remember a good strategy for that battle was to pull everything south of the road, breach the defensive line and the hills, then roll everything up south to north. That was in daylight. Some have had better success with the night option.
