I can't see any screenshots of this game. I would love to see some. For some reason, all of the JPGs in the Updates are missing, or broken. Will this be anything like the old Avalon Hill game? The strategic level planning of the air war over Germany?

I guess I mean: Is it anything like the 1971 Avalon Hill "Luftwaffe" title in scope?

That title may not be as archaic as you think.....
See Luftwaffe (2nd Edition) 2007 - BoardGameGeek.Com

If you want to get a general impression about the scope of the game, have a look at the following After Action Report which contains screenshots; AAR Swift vs Fochinell. This is the old game but there are other threads contain preview screenshots of the 'new' BTR game.

BTW, the Matrix website is undergoing maintenance and all the pictures may not display properly until they have finished the site upgrade.

Edit: Since the Matrix screen shots aren't working, here is one that is to tide you over.... BTR Screenshot

barbarossa2,

Have another look at AAR Swift vs Fochinell. The screenshot graphics are working now.

I do hope that the graphics are better than the screenie shows. They essentially look like the original graphics from way back when...

Hi geozero,

The AAR from Swift and fochinell is the old game - version: BTR1.05x6. This was an updated OOB from the old Bombing the Reich forum developed by Jean Claude Lorusso.

59 to 24 ending score for losses

you don't really want to lead off with your It Ground attack boys, bad things are sure to happen, but it showed what I was looking for

Re the screenshots - I see buttons for " clock speed " etc - how do you zoom the screen in the new games?

Yeah! Screenshots finally! :D

That made me wanna hijack this thread and ask a few followup questions if pos?

1. Will Battle of Britain part of EG hafve nightbombing (or above 41 variant)?
2. Any tweaking in nightfighter procedures in ETO part of game?
3. Is it possible to now exclude recon reports on highest msg lvl?

As for Black Thursday,

From what ive read it was called Black Week Oct 8 onward 1943.
In this week, there was a Black Thursday Oct 14 1943, the 2nd Schweinfurt Raid, where 8th suffered horrible losses to a fairly poor bombing result..
100th BG was literally shredded to pieces..

Clock speed, there are four speeds the battle can run at, 1,x2,x4,x8 (but to be honest, if in combat, you should be in x1 and the game jumps speed pretty well if nothing is in the air, I know alot of people like to speed it up at night, but for me, turning off messages, and turning to Urban targets (the icons are off the map, plane box mode, speed the game up better)

Zoom Levels, look on the side panel of buttons, at the top is a + and a - , those will let you get a zoomed in or zoomed out view

there are zoom levels of 0 to 4 (so 5 levels) (with the data side it is fun, sometimes you have to count 0 as 1, and other places 0 is 0)

here is the zoomed out

and here is zoomed all the way in

this one is more for detail work during plotting, very HARD to see what is going on this level for when the game is running, and the other one, is really, too far out, other then to just watch things

on the mini-map, you can (if it shows with the res) a little box, that matches where you are looking, even zoomed all the way out, it does not cover all that much of the map

I been posting screenshots ?

1. Will Battle of Britain part of EG hafve nightbombing (or above 41 variant)?
Yes, there is Night bombing, Night combat in both BoB and BoB41, bombers, night fighters, early radar, inturders, Fire
2. Any tweaking in nightfighter procedures in ETO part of game?
Yes, radar, scanners, detectors have been reworked some, Stream nighterfighters can get into fights, so you can escourt the bomb raid, inturders are still better, but escourt have a better chance then before (of course, it was pretty much 0 chance before, but i have seen 4-5 kills in a night with my streamers)
3. Is it possible to now exclude recon reports on highest msg lvl?
that is still on the wish list, I do know it was a major area Harley wanted to get to, but can't say if or when we will be able to mod, add on, take away from the messages, Odd old game, thee are 3 levels of reports you can pick, but we know there is a 4th level

As for Black Thursday,

From what ive read it was called Black Week Oct 8 onward 1943.
In this week, there was a Black Thursday Oct 14 1943, the 2nd Schweinfurt Raid, where 8th suffered horrible losses to a fairly poor bombing result..
100th BG was literally shredded to pieces..

well, as I said, every force, had there Black Days, for BC it was in Dec, a bad weather front moved in and as Shaggy said, some 35 planes were lost over England trying to find there way home

and there were other bad days, the last raid on Hamburg before the game begins, the raid ran into a massive weather front

one of the ones most will not know about, is the Russian night para drop, I believe it was the only large drop the Russian made, only for what ever reason, they made the drop from 10,000 ft, and right in the path of a oncoming Panzer Corps

(most drops are made between 500-1200 ft)
