Not to be too upset or anything, but I just got a sewage bill for £700 for 8 months. Now there's something wrong with that and this is just one of the outrageous bills I have gotten in the last 6 months for my small 2 bedroom flat (on the beach though). Last gas bill was for £70 (metered) for 9 months (paid) and then I get another one for £285 for 3 months (also metered supposedly). Is nothing ever done correctly?

Computers never make mistakes, but good help is hard to find. Are you sure you have your correct address?

Been there done that. How many times have you had an electric bill that was twice as high in the winter than in the summer. And, yes, my heat is gas.

In the 80's moved into a new trailer while waiting for Base Housing. First Month got an OUTRAGEOUS Electric Bill so I went out and looked at the meter it was literly flying. I went in the trailer and shut everything down except the frig, using the breaker box as well. Went back out and the meter hadn't slowed at all.

Called the electric company and complained. They sent a guy out and "found" a problem.

My bill and the meter dropped dramatically. Later I changed trailers and first thing I did is check the meter, guess what it was doing?

Can't prove it but it sure seemed like that Company was setting the meters to run hot. Once is an accident, twice is not.

Living in the UK, I have always been charged too much for both gas and electricity. Worst cases I can think of (on top of my original post) is that I still have 2-3 other electricity suppliers sending me bills from £120-£400 telling me I owe them this for .... time in the flat. There are a lot of bogus bills over here and the £285 mentioned in my original post is being looked in to, since it is impossible for me to use up more than ~£20 max each month. The £700 sewage bill is also bogus and will be written off some time later. Things were so much easier back in California ...

You are correct!

I would be the last one to want to govern what subjects are addressed here. It's called General Discussion after all.
