I finished a dbase of all the units/equipment in UV. Right now I'm trying to come up with a way to assign each ship class an ASW and AA rating. Numbers would be strictly a "comparative" method of rating AA/ASW.

For AA, I'm using effect x ceiling (in thousands) x ROF to get a base number for each weapon. Then I'm using a spreadsheet (trying, rather) to compute an AA rating for each ship class based on the weapons loadout.

AA questions;
(1) Should I use a modifier for the US VT fuzes for each weapon capable of using it? If so, what would be realistic?
(2) Currently rating weapons at 50% for "side" mounted weapons, 60% for front/rear mounted weapons, and 100% for "center" mounted weapons. Is this realistic based on the way UV handles weapon effectiveness/firing arcs?
(3) Does air search radar effect AA effectiveness? Is so, what would be a realistic modifier for air search radar equipped ships?

ASW weapons handled similiar fashion. effect (tens) x depth (hundreds) x accuracy (tens). Front/rear/center weapons = 100%, side mounted = 50%.

ASW questions;

(1) Should the ships speed and manuverability be a factor in the ASW rating?
(2) Should ammo be a factor to a limited extent for each weapon?
(3) Is there a ASW modifier for either side?

If I can get this done I'll pre-package some printable reports covering various neat info and pass them and the dbase off to someone to post for DL.

Any help would be appreciated...

But it's a non-persistant kinda bump, really.

I'm not ignoring you juliet, this is detail that Gary provided, mostly located in code. I don't know the answer, but I'll see if I can get some input on the subject.

Regards,

Rich
