This is a continuation of the following thread:

Defensive minefield shows up as enemy minefield

My last post regarding my findings:

Okay Don, you are going to love this one.

Luckily, I had an earlier save from this morning. At San Francisco, I have two USN CM's: Keokuk and Oglala. Keokuk has Mk 16 mines, Oglala has Mk 6. If I create a 'Mine Laying' TF with only one of the two ships, they put the mines down no problem - they are put down as a friendly minefield. But when I put them into a single TF, something happens and Keokuk Mk 16 mines are treated as enemy mines.

I still get the correct OP report when the 'friendly' field is put down:

quote:

Task Force 108 lays defensive minefield at San Francisco

But the game sees it as an enemy field. I can confirm that the friendly field is treated as an enemy one in a number of ways:

1. Before the fields are created, San Fran shows 435 defensive mines. If I put the fields down with only a 1 ship TF, the following day the field correctly increases by either 100 (Oglala) or 200 (Keokuk). But if I put them together, it increases by only 100 (Mk 6) because somehow the game now considers the 200 from Keokuk as enemy mines.
2. The game visually displays the 'Red' dot which represents enemy mines after the friendly field is put down.
3. Almost always, one of my minesweepers will hit one of the Mk 16 mines immediately after the field is put down.

YP Heath hits Mk 16 Mine at San Francisco

4. The day after the 'friendly' field is created, its DL of the 'friendly' field goes up and the MSW TF's get to work clearing the 'friendly' field, usually with explosive results:

quote:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TF 164 encounters mine field at San Francisco (218,70)

Allied Ships
YMS Maple
YP Heath, Mine hits 1, on fire, heavy damage

1 mine cleared...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TF 188 encounters mine field at San Francisco (218,70)

Allied Ships
YMS YP-239
YMS-118
YMS-84

19 mines cleared...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TF 203 encounters mine field at San Francisco (218,70)

Allied Ships
AM Ungava
AM Kelowna
AM Guysborough
AM Canso

51 mines cleared...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Don, I am going to PM you the save before (save slot 152), and the save after (save slot 153). This is all obviously the latest patch, and scenario 1. Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks!

Chad

Attached are the two saves I mention in that thread. One before the turn resolution, but after the TF has been created and given orders. The second is the following day, with the 'friendly' minefield created.

Just let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks

Chad

Bug verified, thanks. It's an old one - we'll get it fixed.

As always, thanks for looking into it. Glad I could help dig it back up.
