He looks a little like Clark Gable but definitely a Bren.

Definitely a Bren LMG, and judging from the hat, guessing he's going to be Australian.

Had fun firing one of these a few weeks ago. Nice-easy weapon to fire. I can see why the Brits / commonwealth forces thought so highly of it.

Heresy Alert.
A very nice gun. I got to shoot one too a time ago, but imo a BAR a little bit better. It does not have a replaceable barrel or a barrel heat sink so does not really qualify as a machine gun, but it is lighter and accurate as hell. It is hand holdable and shoulder firable. I’ve seen people shoot match with it and a good three round trigger tap can do a 2 inch group.

People tell me the big technical problem with the BAR was accuracy, there was no spread. I think Belgium built a knock-off in 1941 with different headspace, and a removable and floating barrel. I think it even had a receiver group that could switch from magazines to belts.

Bren is a good gun don’t get me wrong, but I shot them and shot BARs and 14s and 15s and all things considered I think I like Mister Brownings gun best.

Totally OT:  but I find it amusing that the Abrams rifle of WWII fame-probably one of the best rifles to ever see production-was developed by a Canadian-a Quebecois to be precise.

I thought that being too accurate was a problem of the bren.
