Now, that the android tablet pcs are going to launch soon...wouldn't it be great if now some developers go for this platform - I think most of the games, which are published by Matrix Games, would really be a first candidate to be played on a tablet PC.

Of course, there're solutions like Remote Desktop Connection - to play the game remotely...but it is not the same game experience like having an tablet optimized application.

What do you think...I would be interested to know how many gamers here plan to buy such a tablet PC this year.

Got my eye on the Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi only version - Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) - should be around the $500 mark

The iPad is fantastic to use but I'm not really comfortable with them telling me what I can or can't do with it - like surf to Flash websites which I actually do a lot to book hotels, get cinema tickets etc.

Maybe I'm going to acquire one in fall. Not sure yet which OS though. Will wait for next iPad release before making up my mind. Don't care much about restrictions on something what I consider as a pure reader. The lack of flash would be a shame, but HTML 5 is at the gates anyway, and large providers like Youtube can switch in no time.

However, I won't purchase tablet games. Got almost a dozen for my iPhone and never played them really. At home I rather play on a large screen and abroad I can't focus on serious gaming. Other than that, I prefer my Notebook for travelling and there I have WiTP AE, WitE, etc. already installed.

Yes, I've seen that video :)

I think big tablet PCs with HD resolution are very capable for serious gaming. One big advantage is that you can sitting on your couch and can scroll/click just more naturally than with the mouse.

But probably it takes still some time before developers here plan to create a game for a tablet. One problem is also that there are two major platforms (iOS/Android)

Android will win and iOS will pick up the 10% crumbs like macOS

Can't wait to play Close Combat on a tablet laying back on the lounge.

Also like the idea of downloadable scenarios from within the app.... send a dollar battle on a new map....send TEN dollars and battle in a new theatre, bliss.

Probably, but it'll take half a decade if not more to get to that point, so in the meantime Apple will have a significant share as well. I see it more like in the days of the Commodore 64 / Sinclair ZX Spectrum / Apple II / IBM PC where the same (war)game was brought out for different platforms.

Lets just wait for Slitherine to develop some really serious wargames for the Android.
I'm not keen on emulation or remot access to a desktop.
