Hi

I have just setup a local network and I was wondering if you can play SPwaW just using two computers within the network?

The option "online play" requires internet access.

It works great - I was playing last night with "Online Play" on my LAN.

You just need to know the IP addresses. What's great is when you start, it gives you your IP Address. So have one person "Create" (remembering their IP address) then the other person or persons "Join" typing in the Creators IP Address.

For example; My IP address is 90.0.0.2 and the another computer on my LAN is 90.0.0.3. I Create the game and he Joins typing in for the IP address 90.0.0.2.

If you don't do a battle you will have to make sure the originator of the scenario set it up correctly for more than one player. There are also some scenarios for up to 4 players. You still have two sides it's just split up between the players on each side.

Hope this helps,
Figmo

Hmmm

My machines are 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2.

I keep getting "the server at that address is not responding"

Since I can access files on either machine from the other the network seems ok.

Could it be a configuration problem of some description.

It is probobly not helped by one machine using Win 98 and the other Win XP.

I have a win98 and win95 machine playing together, so the op system differance isn't going to be the problem.

Do you have all protocols enabled for your network cards? Do you have the protocols configured the same?

I know when I started, I was able to log onto the other machine and move files etc, but to get them to play I had to adjust the protocols.
thanks, John.

Do you have protocols other than TCP/IP installed? I think Windows can share files also using IPX/SPX and NetBeui -protocols, so the TCP/IP probably isn't configured properly. Check the IP-addresses, subnets, gateways if you need them etc.

Hope this helps.
