Applications are invited for the first War in the East Multiplayer tournament. No PMs please - only posts in this thread will qualify.

There are 8 slots and the first 8 applicants will be accepted. No previous experience is required, but testers and devs are respectfully asked to pass this up, for obvious reasons.

More details below.

CONCEPT

The tournament will last three rounds.

ROUND 1

Eight players will start round one and will be paired up by me based on a draw from a hat.

All will play two games of Road to Leningrad against one other player - once as the Axis and once as the Soviets.

Games scores will be registered for each game with me. The player from each pair with the highest total score after the two games have been played will go through to Round 2.

Full FoW and non-random weather with the Normal difficulty setting will be applied to all games played.

ROUND 2.

This will take the same format and covers the road to Dnepropetrovsk scenario.

Two players will go through to the Final Round.

FINAL ROUND

This will cover Road to Moscow scenario, which will again be played twice, once as Axis and once as Soviets.

The two finalists may choose to agree different game settings. If they cannot agree then the default tourney settings (see above) shall be applied.

The winning player will receive a screenshot of his final turn map, emblazoned with an appropriate medal!

We wish to reach Moscow by Christmas, so please do not apply unless you are sure that you have the time and commitment to stick with the process.

Well, we need a reasonable limit, so I would say 1 month for each game. If somebody has to drop out, a volunteer can take over.

It starts 1 hour after we have 8 people signed up ;)

For the record, I am counting myself in too, so that's three so far - Vonsheaffer, Tarhunnas and Redmarkus

I'm your huckleberry.....

What happens if there is a tie? Losses or something like that as a tiebreaker?

Good point. I would be more inclined to say that in the event of an exact tie (unlikely?) the player holding Leningrad/Dnepropetrovsk or Moscow wins.

What do you all think?

How do you define a tie?In VP's or as a draw defined by the scenario?
If it was me I'd award 3 points for a decisive victory, 2 for a major victory, 1 for a minor victory and 0 for a draw.In the event of a dead heat over the two rounds, the victory point totals would be decisive.

That would work, but since one player from each pair always goes through, does it make a difference really? Either way, the guy with the most points wins...

Ah, I missed the bit about players adding their VP scores together in your previous post. This would explain why you thought a draw unlikely.Seems like a perfectly good way to do it.It's going to hurt if you lose by 1 VP though.
