After reading several times the game manual (page 160) I can´t play by email with my friends. We have the latest patch and no mods. Is this some kind of bug or something is wrong in the game manual? Could anybody explain step by step the process?

Thanks

Actually there is a step-by-step explanation here Jafele....

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=1772118

Its the one I was actually following when we started (or tried to!) our current game. I remember having exactly the same problems when I first started playing PC Kharkov back in the day.

The Panzer Command series must hold the record for most complicated PBEM system of any game anywhere!

Jafele and myself still failing to try and start a PBEM game after repeated and numerous attempts. Cant figure out whats goin on at all. We keep getting the 'MD5-hash-keys out-of-sync' message popping up. However we have the same patch, same scenario and everything installed correctly. Anybody enlighten us on what could be happening?

Out of sync messages at the beginning means that one of you has different files than the other. Either the game version, scenario, or modded units files.

However we have the same version and scenarios (tested several times) and no mods. Even we have sent the xml files to each other and put it in the data/scenarios folder. I have reinstalled the game and the problem remains the same. I´m trying to make it work with two new rivals, I will tell how it goes. Another possibility is a bug included in the latest patch...

It is possible to set the game up and play an email game against yourself. I don't remember exactly how I did it though. That may be a way to test if there is some program error as opposed to a data error.

Yes, also we have tried that. When I do it in my own computer works fine but not when I sent it to another player. Another thing I have noticed is that the "load game" button sometimes doesn´t light up when you select the file, instead you must press enter to start your turn.

So you are running on same html data files? At least htmls in guns, tables, infantry and armorunits.

One last thing that I can think of. Play against yourself and drop the file to dropbox, then pick it up again.

If you want to try and invite me to play the same scenario, send me a pm and we can see if we can play it.

Thanks

Your turn is ready in dropbox. I guess XML files are not neccesary for this scenario.

After a few turns it looks correct. Maybe somenoe of us had a corrupted file that requires a game reinstall?

Maybe only the xml of units, guns and things in the particular scenario need to match.

perhaps that was the problem. So far The Stalingrad scenario is starting ok too. If Falco wants to try the Stalingrad he can probably use the same dropbox if you want to invite him to it. If Stalingrad plays for a couple of turns, then it would have to be some corrupted files on Falcos end I think.

Thanks!
rick

As I recall, the game is smart enough to check to see if you have the scenario files and gets them to you if you don't.

Turn sent to Rick. A question: Would it be possible some day to sent only one file to the other player? I consider that the two files system is a bit messy, specially for new players.

Well, I've given up trying to play this PBM now. Too much time wasted trying to get the wretched thing to work.

Fine game, Pity about the PBM system.

Falco, I can´t load the file. Again the same old problem: MD5-hash-keys out-of-sync

We have tested it dozens of times, it doesn´t matter if you or me start the game. However, I´m playing fine with Rick and a friend of mine. I don´t know what´s happening.

Yep, understand. As I mentioned before, I've given up trying to play PBM anymore anyway.

Thanks for your patience Jafele.

Falco,

Sorry you're having so much trouble with PBM for PCO. I just took the time to check out the step-by-step link you posted earlier in the thread and I see that the steps you are referencing are not for PCO.

THe PCO PBM system changed from PCK.

There are other guides posted and also a video tutorial on using the PCO sytem.

Sorry it's been so frustrating, if you decide to try again let me know and I can work with you to get it going.

Thanks
RIck
