This me against the Axis AI. I have the AI set at 110% across the board with the latest Beta Patch 1.05.63. In the North, the AI cleaned out most of the units. I will be able to jump back in Riga but probably won't be able to hold it for long. I am going to try to get my tank back to friendly lines but they are probably a lost cause.

In the center there is one large pocket and another smaller one. About the only thing I can do is get my Air and HQ units out of there. I will move them to the best defensive position possible and try to inflict as many casualties as possible before going down.

In the South the situation isn't too bad. The AI is pushing it's armor East near the marsh, trying to bypass as many units as it can. It will keep going until I can form a line. Then it will wait until additional forces catch up then break through and encircle.

Now I have a lot of reorganizing to do. I will be creating lines of defense where ever I can to slow the Axis down. Any Air units with low morale will be sent to the National Reserve. I will also be moving selected units from the South to regroup in order to counter attack in either late July or August.

In the North it's hard to get a defensive line this early as the troop aren't there yet. I did get into Riga but was promptly kicked out again. The Axis AI is making pretty good progress there. I should be able to get more troops in the way this turn.

In the Center they must have turbo charged some of the Panzers. One Panzer divsion just crossed the Dnepr! It bypassed Minsk but the follow up infantry will take care of them. I have my hands full in the Center

In the South I am doing better as I have more troops. I was able to create some lines of defense and that has slowed the AI down considerably but is still pushing forward a little. I will be straightening out the lines and start making multiple defensive lines.

At the end of Turn 2 in the North I am able to start to get some lines together. I still don't have enough up there yet to hold the AI off for long. I reconned all over the place and can't find where it's Panzer forces are. Maybe it moved the to the Center as there seems to be quite a few in that area.

In the Center I am able to get a decent defensive line across the front. It should hold until the rest of it's forces catch up. By that time I should be able to increase my defenses there. I wasn't able to evacuate the factories in Mogilev because the 14th Motorized division managed to park itself beside the city and I couldn't budge them.

In the South I have a very good defensive line and started to get a line going behind the Dnepr. I also have a small counter attack force resting nearby in case of a breakthrough.

This and the two posts above are at the end of Turn 2.

Here's the losses for turn 3. It's only the beginning of turn 3 and I already have over 730,000 casualties!

The 7th Panzer division is a very energetic division. The next series of posts show the succession of attacks by the 7th in turn 3. It attacked 6 times! I guess since the distance between attacks wasn't that much it wouldn't take up a lot of fuel but that is still a lot of attacks for one turn. I'm going to have to target them for my counter attack. They may be in Moscow before the beginning of mud season at the rate their going.

Here's the first attack they did along with the 20th Panzer division.

Here's the third attack. This attack and the next 3 are just the 7th Panzer division. The 20th must have gotten tired just after 2 attacks

And the 6th and last. Looking again at the the amount of tanks that are attacking each time, it looks like what I have for number 3 may actually be the last attack. You can follow the succession by the number of tanks it lost in one battle and and looking at what it started again in the next.

You and I both got off easy in terms of Turn 1 Air Losses. The developers have really toned that down a lot. I remember seeing 4500+ losses in some AAR's in the earlier versions of the game.

Hi all,

Thanks again for playing and AAR!

I am especially interested in AI encirclements... please report those (including failed ones)...

The 7th Panzer division teamed up with the 20th and blasted through the defensive line I had set up near Smolensk. Army Group Center is pretty much having it way with my troops. The AI is picking single depth lines and hitting them hard and leaving anything in depth or multi-stacked alone for the follow up forces.

In the North the AI is making pretty fair progress. I did have a defensive line along the junction of the Velikaya and Sorot rivers but it rolled over them pretty good and went straight up to Pskov. The Totenkopf Division took Pskov then backed off to maintain contact with the rest of their forces.

In the South I am doing pretty fair. They didn't blast through anywhere yet. I think it's looking for a weak spot as the AI doesn't have a solid line. I've come to know through experience that it usually means it's regrouping and will exploit any weakness it sees.

I also reduced my TO&E for the NKVD units to 50% and my Artillery to 75% in order to see if I can get some of my divisions filled up a little quicker.

Just a side note to those who may be following this. I also have a PBEM game that is just about wrapped up and that is taking some of my time. Also I am very meticulous with my turns and sometimes takes a couple of days to complete a turn, as being in charge of the Soviet forces is only a part time job...

I was able to cut off the spearhead in the Center. I bombed some of the armor units and the HQ unit. Hopefully without a direct supply line for 1 turn it will slow it down some. I could have attacked the HQ unit but didn't as that would be taking advantage of the AI. However if this was a human opponent I would have.

It will be interesting to see how the AI reacts to this.
