In addition to loving Matrix produced wargames I also really enjoy Sid Meier's stuff. Interesting new game from Sid Meier which is supposedly his first game in awhile, and despite a major publisher like 2K it includes Hex based game-play!

Ace Patrol

Also not sure of the rules, not trying to promote a competitor but I don't think Matrix has any games like this, it's clearly more mainstream than most Matrix products and it's only a developer video.

AARGGHH!! Looks like a game I've ha din my head for awhile now..but it's only out on tablets...oh the horror..why I ask why are they doing this to me!!!!!

I'd love to see this expanded..made a touch more realistic..where you have to send out your Squadron on patrols or recon escort, Arty Spotting etc etc..

Throw in a RPG aspect aswell as managing the mechanics..keeping Squadron moral up...pairing up pilots for two seaters...You are A Suqadron Commander and the game follows your career over the war.

Sill this looks cool.

Actually it reminds me a lot of an old pc game where you were a squadron commander during the battle of britain but I can't remember the name of the game and obviously it was only for pc.

Achtung Spitfire and Over the Reich..both of those based on the boardgames by J Webster..I'd love to see them redone and see Whistling Death as a new game (Thats the latest boardgame set in the Pacific).

http://uk.gamespot.com/achtung-spitfire/

Battlefront (When they where called Bigtime software or something like that)had something to do with them aswell as Flight Commander 2..all great little games that are crying out for a remake.

Les from Wasteland Interactive will remember my game design idea...with regards to a WW1 air war game. Looks like Sid beat us to it..:)

I wonder if anyone will make some sort of emulator that meant we could get IOS and Andriod games working on the PC. On second thoughts..touch screen...oh b##ger.

Lucas Arts Battle of Britain comes to mind. But I had the Amiga version.

European Air War maybe.

Hrrm, IIRC Websters board games that I really liked were Airstrike and Air Superiority both neat systems.

I never played Speed of Heat but I recall it being for sale at a convetion where I briefly met JD. Long long time ago. I think I've seen a copy of Whistling Death being played but it didn't seem like the same kind of game, more of a card driven thing than a tactial hex move type of game. Of course my memory may not be very accurate.

I was able to get a copy of flight comannder II via an abandonware site but I haven't played it much.

I thought the missus got me an Ipad for Christmas. Much to my surprise I didn't get one. Usually I am pretty good at guessing. That and she makes things a little obvious at times. Fooled me this time though.

I'd check this out had things been a little different. Do I sound bitter?

Just bite the bullet guys.
I got the missus an Ipad for her birthday. ..Then she got one for mine.
But the kids kept using it all the time. I noticed on the Eurostar trains that all the families had ipads. And all the dads were stuck reading the old fashioned way whilst he kids used the devices. so I've got one ipad mini between them.
So we have 3 ipads.

Now that is extravagant. But then I found its almost the same in every family I know. One or two or three touch devices.
So just get one.

The $40 a game you spend on PC titles will be just $2 on your new ipad.
That's some sort of crazy justification for buying one ..

In my experience on my Fiance's iPad the VAST majoriy of games that are $2-$5 are worth just that, $2-$5. They are not deep or all that interesting with a few exceptions.

True story. I bought the iPad 1. Wife said why? You have a laptop . Two years later I got an iPad 2 for Christmas . I gave her my old iPad . She couldn't put it down. While I will admit she uses it for different reasons than I do. Like fanboy said is true many games are .99 to 6.99 or even higher but not all games are like that. Remember it is still relatively new...people don't understand that the iPad can handle a lot more than the current games that are available for it.
