Okay, I click on the icon on my desktop, and the "Steel Panthers World at War Game Menu" pops up. I then click on "Play World at War" (which is red). Then the SSI logo comes up, then the Steel Panthers logo, and then credits come on. If i press any buttons or anything the game closes and i return to the desktop. Please help me. I have a 500mhz Athlon, GeForce 256, and a SB Live Value Soundcard, and all my Direct X drivers are up to date.

Hi... I have had this prob. with all the versions of SP and WAW when i start useing Win 98. I use two way to get around ti 1: did you make a short cut to your desktop? if not do that and then right click on it, go to properties and maximise screen. That should do it 2: another way is to go to the WAW folder and do the same thing on the SPWAW.exe and then try to run the game from the "run" screen. for me that way has been fare the most stabile way to run the game. When I first installed SPWaWV4.5 I had a selection of problems, including crashing to desktop. Possible solutions: (1) Delete the steel.prf file (in SPWaW saved games directory). For some reason the preference (steel.prf) file seems to get corrupted and deleting it (a new one will be automatically created next time you start the game). (2) Examine SPWaW directories with explorer, find Mech.exe (this is the file that Red Baron suggested) and right click. select "create short-cut", drag short-cut to desktop. THis will allow direct entry to the first SPWaW game menu (missing all the SSI sequences etc)

thanx guys for the advice, but it all ended up workin fine, i just un-installed it, re-installed, then tryed again, and then when i pressed a key, it went to the game. everything works alright.
