Jess, I wish I had a dollar for every Sherman I melted in my backyard sandbox wars as a kid. A redhot paperclip cuts through a plastic model Sherman, just like, well... a round from any of the superbly designed German tanks of that era to be specific.:D

But you are so fun to bait!:D :D

As for that other website, it would be cool to mate those radio controlled tanks with the real pneumatic ballbearing shooters you can get on the model battleships website and shoot it out in a field. The poor M4s would be in trouble then, eh Jess?:D

If you cat lovers can locate em, Dragon recently released the ultimate exec toy in the form of a table top RC Tiger (it fits in palm of your hand).

Retails in the serious kid price range, comes with controller and recharger (80 bucks canadian for the one I saw). Its a new release, so expect to shop online or in "real" hobby stores.

This is just the first of a line of kits apparently.

Sorry I don't have any links (I saw it in my usual hi end we-sell-real-modellers-stuff hobby shop in Toronto).

For those that actually have access to Toronto, its at Kieth's in North York (and if you don't know Kieth's don't embarrass yourself making it known you never been there heeh).

Toys with a 1/6 scale, now there's an idea. They don't say how heavy it is, but the weight must be considerable.

At 1/6 the scale, it must be 1/6 of the weight, right? :D

Soo.. around 10-12 tons for the Tiger model, hehehe ;) :p

I surfed around on the German rcpanzer.de forums; seems the weight of this 1/6 monster is 75 kg !! At 1.40m long, you'll need ramps to load this baby into a car!

Thanks Goblin, was not aware there was a connection.

For those that have not actually seen the 1/72nd scale ones Imentioned, the detail on them is fairly good even for 1/72nd scale.

The treads are a simple predictable elastic band style common at that scale, the model is a plastic body, and it looks fun to play with.

At the larger scales 1/16th and up you are talking yes serious weight levels hard core control equipment and definite big time price tags.

I have heard that enterprising individuals have even been able to equip models such as the King Tiger with 22 rifle barrels even (which you can assume requires some indepth skill levels outside of the realm of most modellers).

RC tanks how fight battles via laser beams, same as the "real" army uses in training.

If you treadheads want a selection of armor kits in every scale in use, with excellent prices and next-day shipping (they aren't kidding, they really do ship within 24 hours), I have found nothing to beat good old Squadron: http://www.squadron.com/Index.htm

Whereas this fellow specilizes in armor kits and detail: http://www.discountmodels.com/ - I have used him, too, ditto on price and service though not always 24 hours as Mark has another job. If a particular item is available in the US, Mark will get it for you, at his usual discount prices.

There are others, but these two are overall the best I have found. Squadron also carries a very complete line of airplane model kits, modeling tools and supplies and if you really want it they have a German WW2 submarine 6+ feet long, on sale for only $1,700. A real bargain. They also carry a lot of other ship model kits which sell for considerably less.

Hmm saw the Squadron logo on the web page and that was enough.

Can't go wrong with Squadron.

Sissy!? We had a battle going. Don't you remember, I was kicking you AirBorne A$$, then you had your "leave of absence" and we didn't finish it. (I think you were frightened.) It went like this: you would have a bunch of paras drop, I would kill them all and then you would have more paras drop, I would kill them all, etc., etc...:D
