Hi,

Just rough figures.. ; ).

What surprised me were the losses a company of T64A tanks on open ground took positioned one hex in front of a US infantry platoon in turn positioned in woods. 1980. So LAW and Dragon 1. Both get 24 penetration so real life say 360mm odd.

The front protection for the T64As is given as 21, real life say 320mm with your 50% mark up sounds fine. Against kinetic.

But what is the additional mark up you are giving for the different types of special armour against HEAT? T64A gets ACA1..

Are you assuming a 10% mark up above kinetic protection figure for ACA1, or say 25% mark up for ACA1?

Just wondering.. your data figures that I have seen are fantastically carefully done... this is not a criticism.. ; ).

All the best,
Kip.

Kip, off the top of my overused head, I think it's around 20-25%. I'll check the docs and code and get a better number later today because I could be thinking the ERA levels too.

Also at 1 hex there is a greater chance of flank shots on the tanks by infantry as well and that will drop the T-64s protection a good chunk.

Thanks.. :).

All the best,

Here's more a detailed breakdown from skimming the code. There is of course a ton of other code but this is the meat and potatoes of ERA, ACA, SKT, and TW specials and their effects.

Attacking a Hard Target – Mod to Protection

AP round Pen is adjusted for range based on a curve fit of AP data.
• ERA4 (2nd Gen Kontack 5) Effects vs AP - 40% chance at 40% reduction = 16% AP Reduction (Covers all three types listed for various coverages and attack angles)
HEAT attacks have their base Pen Value and gets modified based on a number of factors as follows:
• Adjustment for Tandem Warhead to boost HEAT value by ~50% (there is a small adjustment for tech capability)
• Small 20% reduction in heat value for armoured skirts reducing flanking HEAT attacks
• ERA1 (1st Gen) Effects vs HEAT - 60% chance at 20% reduction = 12% HEAT Reduction (Covers all three types listed for various coverages and attack angles)
• ERA2 (1st Gen) Effects vs HEAT - 70% chance at 30% reduction = 21% HEAT Reduction (Covers all three types listed for various coverages and attack angles)
• ERA3 (2nd Gen Kontact 5) Effects vs HEAT - 80% chance at 45% reduction = 36% HEAT Reduction (Covers all three types listed for various coverages and attack angles)
• ERA4 (2nd Gen Kontact 5) Effects vs HEAT - 90% chance at 55% reduction = 50% HEAT Reduction (Covers all three types listed for various coverages and attack angles)
• ACA1 improves basic protection versus HEAT by 20%
• ACA2 improves basic protection versus HEAT by 40%
• ACA3 improves basic protection versus HEAT by 60%
• ACA4 improves basic protection versus HEAT by 80%
