Hi all,

It must have been more than a year ago since I've started on three scenarios covering the German breakthrough in the southern Netherlands in May 1940. The third one was all but finished a few months ago, but then duty called and I started working on the official West Wall scenario pack.
Last week I decided to go AWOL , and finish the damned thing, so its ready now.
Included in the zip file are three maps, three scenarios and a set of 1940 Estabs. I've build the Estabs together with Adam Dolci, they include German, Dutch and French units. For more detailed information, please take a look at the designer notes.

I'm looking forward to your comments!

Pieter

Where the files go:

  • First create a new scenario sub directory called Brabant Breakthrough
  • Place all the .cos files in there, along with the designer Notes word file ( so you know where to find it ).
  • Place all the .cop files in your Map directory
  • Place the .coe and .xml files in your Estab directory

What does this mean....so they will still work when the new patch comes out or does it mean we will have to wait for the new patch to play these?

Sounds interesting.

When I try to open the French scenario, I get a Map database could not be opened error. Every other scenario works. I tried unpacking maps again and I still get the error.

I renamed one of the maps- then forgot about it.

I've deleted the 'Waalwijk' map from the Zipfile, and added 'Den Bosch 40'. Here's the new version, please let me know if this works.

Well I got a draw.

Very hard manouvring units who want to stop for a "cuppa" every few hours.

I held 95% of s'-Herstgenbosch, 4th Rgt Dragoons Portes did a great job. 180th Dragoons supported their left and the Recce Group the right.

The Dutch seemed to fall back without ordwers, WAD or did I hit a wrong button.

The right flank seemed to hold but reviewing after the game I saw most of 9 Panzer waiting to cross the canal, would have been better used further north.

Well done Tukker, I'll give the dark side a run as well.

A struggle as the Wermacht!

Maybe more of a game problem, getting your troops to move for more than 50% of the game

I would have thought that given the situation the wermaht would have driven their troops into the ground, instead of stopping for strudel every 3-4 hours.

Played through Mill scenario in a fairly intuitive way (simple tactics, no funny business) - as Axis. Got a Marginal Defeat. Can you explain about the 2 crossing point objectives, tukker? I know Gennep is only worth 4 points but the Cujik bridge seems important - 11 points, if I recall. I never seemed to control them, despite actually having my units all over them for most of the time with no enemy anywhere near (certainly not within the obj circle). Do you have to build bridges there to get the points? My bridge builders didn't manage to build the bridges despite having nearly the entire time to do so.

Aside from that it was the usual probs - everything moving too slowly, lots of halting for long periods on contact (I hope to God the patch really will fix this).

I got the same result. The whole of the 476th made it to Mill, but I couldn't keep the roads behind them clear enough for anyone to get through to the exit objectives. I'm waiting for the patch, too.

The points come after you build bridges. The bridge builders need some support from the motorized pioneer companies you get. Three of those plus the bridge unit with Construct Bridge orders finished them in a few hours.

I have to say, though, it's an awesome pack of scenarios.

Ah. Thanks for tip, Fishbreath (re Pioneer plus bridge unit).

Agree it's a great pack, with really nice maps. Thanks Tukker.

Yes, you have to build the bridges to earn the point. I've done this because historically the Germans needed bridges to move the 9. Panzer across the river- and they needed them quickly.

Happy to hear you're enjoying the scenarios!

Can't remember. I doubt it. Best to run them through mapmaker first, I think (convert them), then you know they'll work. Identify which map each scenario uses (bottom right, first screen when you open the scenario in Scenmaker), open that map in mapmaker. It will take some time, but this only happens once. Once it's loaded I always build the map cache again, to be safe (I've no idea if this is necessary), but certainly get it to recalculate terrain tables first (these are drop down options). This will all take a couple of minutes. Then oversave the original map (using 'save as' and selecting the original map name) and close map maker. You're done.

Thanks - I'll give that a shot. Do the estabs and scenarios typically need to be converted?

If they're made before the latest patch, I think so. Otherwise they take ages to load and sometimes crash. You can tell if they need converting because when you try to open them in the game you get the message 'this may take a long time...' With small, older scenarios you might not get this, but they would still need converting. I think best thing is always to convert the custom, user-made stuff. Then you know you're ok. Get back if you need more help doing it.
