7.1 match up

Germany vs US 10k

Opening salvo Germany only, Overlord smokes a large hill in the center.

Turn one my recon jeep tries dashing down the road, just before they left I could hear one of the say he wants us to do WHAT! They where right a 88mm round sends jeep and body parts flying, my other recon forces are moving much slower, I counter battery fire the German arty positions causing some casualties.

Turn to you Overlord

This is a rematch for me!!

SWEET REVENGE!!

I hope....

GE recon forces advance, spotting some US recon forces....not much action to report - sdkfz222 takes some shots at a recon squad, others are not worth shooting at....yet

Viking started off his turn with the lovely tactic of bombing the arty park tell tale smoke clouds.....and my mortars were not happy about it. So, a behind the lines scramble to move them has occupied much of this turn:rolleyes:

Overlord was planning counter battery as well, so I moved my arty as well.

That A/C gets killed by mortar fire, I also drop some arty on a AT gun that has been spotted

A couple of artillary tips for all you younguns out there. If you are the second player and do not want to miss out of on the initial artillary bombardment but also do not want to have your onboard artillary pummled in turn one here is what you do. Plot you artillary for a 1.0 delay duing intial bombardment. This will make your artillary fall on the end of turn one after your opponent has moved. Then on your turn you can pop smoke in various locations in your backfield to obsure and mistify. This only works to a certain degree though eventually the smoke will give you away. But it does prevent your opponet from bombing your artillary park for the first 5-6 turns.

Well I could have let you learn the way I did. By playing enough games through trial and error. :)

Not much to report...
GE Recon forces continue to advance.
Many US snipers spotted, couple of shots taking at them to say hi.

US mortars continue to do damage and suppress my mortars....

Most are moved, but a couple of fleeing ones dont realize that it would be better for them to climb INTO the HT I sent to pick them up......but then, maybe it is better they dont since the load in their shorts will just stink up the vehicle......

You can always tell when Vikings Rangers pop up - astriks everywhere and 60mm mortars start hitting all your rear units....

Low and behold, 4 Ranger squads where located, 2 were wiped out and some pain given to the others causing them to flee. One squad took out an 88 at gun last turn...

US arty still pounds recon forces. a few casualties scattered about.

GE forces control the N and S vh's, US controls the center.

Map description:
North and south are lightly wooded while the center is wide open....
Hills dot the land scape with lots of places to hide.:D

Our forces are pushing a little harder against each other.
In the north, a truck, recon team and 50 cal jeep are destroyed.

A ranger squad and a mortar jeep are dispatched as well.

Still looking for a crack to open the US defenses....

So dang clos to your units they cant stay hidden...
But they do manage to take out a 3in at gun.

2 ht's and a jeep go as well.

My Jeeps are taking a beating, Overlord has done a good job of poking my eyes out.

Killed two of those infiltrators, and a couple of halftracks, a crew jumps out of one of Overlords armored cars as well

Killed a sniper, bazooka team and chaffee. Casualties inflicted here and there.

Did a little experiment too - charged a couple of known infantry locations and low and behold, the US infantry succeeds in their op fire assaults on my HT's! Never fails for them:rolleyes:

Still inching forward. The contact is going to get rougher real soon...

I am trying a new tactic with my AT guns.
I put them in plain sight and let Viking shoot at them. When his troops run out of ammo I wil rush forth and crush them!

GE forces continue to probe - inching forward....waiting for the hammer to fall:(

GE AT armored cars take out a caffee. Tiger kills a greyhound, and a recon team dies.

A panzers puts a round through an HT, but just chases it off....

There is a pesky ranger team still hanging out that I will have to deal with next round...

US arty continues to be a nuisance.

In the north, an M4 HVSS is killed by a PZIV.

GE forces take some steps towards the center, US controled VH's.
2 bazooka teams, a 30 cal mg and a 105mm M4 die.

To the south, GE force puch forward in the woods. a 50 cal jeep and another bazooka team die. A tiger bounces an 88 off a jumbo and scoots back. That will be a fun duel...

THis is one of those turns that you feel pretty good about, right to the point when you think you are clicking on a unit, but you miss and the last one you had select comes racing out of cover and a Chaffee shoots at it. My poor panzer could do nothing but defend itself. It died. From a Chaffee. What a disgrace.

Got mad about that and brought out a Panther to kill the chaffee but of course it missed so I had to hide in the smoke....dumb.
Probably going to lose that next turn along with a Panzer left hanging. We are fighting in a thunder storm so it seems like the muddy conditions are slowing down the units.....cant move as far as I thought I could, shoot and scoot back. Oh well.

Any how, GE forces continue to push forward under heavy US bombardment, particuarly around the souther vh. All ready in GE hands (turn based VH's in this game) but US forces are too close for comfort so we are pushing them back. An HT dies and some causlaties inflicted on infantry.

We push towards the center US controled vh's a little more, killing a recon squad and a jeep.

A flanking move continues slightly to the north of the center VH, killing an AA HT and an M4hvss.

US forces are begining to push alittle harder to the extreme north. Viking is testing the defences up there.....
