I don't know if it has been spoken about in Dan's AAR but he has gone over 500,000 views. How about that??!!

Well done to my Noble Opponent.

A heartfelt BANZAI to him and his AAR!

Of course I should say that it has taken FIVE years to the get here. Not one, not two, but three pauses and then continuation of the match. I don't even have the version of Reluctant Admiral we started with. It is about 20 variants ago...

As John Dillworth once said, "He's a verbose SOB."

And I am. A lot of the posts and visits are mine, as I think of new and loquacious ways to say things.

To the extent that post count does reflect interest amongst the gentlemen and gentleladies of the forum, it has been and continues to be a joint enterprise.

Thanks, John III, for helping make a match that's been too much fun for a very long time. Thanks, Forum, for reading and contributing and, when called for, laughing.

My vote in the Civil War General contest is, as I said WAY BACK in early-1943, is for Ulysses Sam Grant.

Dan's AAR's go all over the place. With the exception of politics and religion just about everything gets discussed. At one point I even knew Dan's favorite Root Beer. Dan, what was the name of that stuff? These forums are some of the nicest communities on the Internet. It's always a special surprise when one of the old timers checks back in

IBC Rootbeer, in bottles, on ice.

I had my first on a humid summer day, circa 1983, while working for a timber company in Middle Georgia. We stopped at an country store in an old brick building in Siloam, Georgia. We'd been working all morning in the forest, painting boundary lines or estimating timber volumes. That root beer was heavenly.

Each summer, we do a few all-day hikes to Jacks River Falls in the Cohutta Wilderness Area. It's a four mile walk each way. We spend hours swimming in a cold pool a the falls. We always have six packs of IBC in a cooler on ice waiting for us when we get back to the car.

Jack's River Falls is the location you sent pictures of to me. My boys would LOVE to go there! Like IBC a lot but tend towards being a rather mundane cold Coca-Cola man myself.

I don't post in the AAR:s for fear of giving away things when I'm reading both sides, so I'll be a bit generic here as well. Anyway I'd congratulate you both. Always interesting to see both sides of the games and read the opinions on the strategic lookout clouded by fog of war. So by having the two threads you enhance each others AAR.

It helps that you also have AAR:s that are readable. Neither of you bog down your AAR:s with combat reports or whatnot that has little bearing on the big picture. You both also give the reader some general overview of your plans with screenshots of the operational area now and then, something I at least appreciate.

Good job!

I second this thought. If I start to read an AAR and encounter long pastes of combat reports, I stop reading. The occasional excerpt is fine, but an AAR made up of combat reports is tedious work to read. Dan and John have done it right, as exemplified by nearly 3/4 million views between the two of them.
