Does anyone know how to slow down the mouse cursor?

I'm currently playing on a AMD2000+,512MB,WIN XP and have great problems scrolling to the right place.

Thanks in advance.

Howdy

Map scrolls too fast? Go to the preferences menu and experiment with the 'scroll delay' setting.

Other than that, you may have to use the small map in the lower right corner and click within it for precise positioning.

This game is based on dos code. You need to slow down that AMD beast of a processor.

Try this. It mentions a couple of other programs you might try. Try solo first, so you won't crash your PBEM if it is going to crash.

Throttle down your PC

Guys, I believe he means the speed that the cursor moves and not the scroll rate. Plus, you can't control the scroll rate when plotting artillery or in deployment, only when in normal play.

I don't know. I have a p4, 1.7 gig, 512 meg ram, win xp. So it's a pretty similar machine. No problem with the cursor. Had to tone down the scrolling though. When in artillary plotting you need to use the small map.

Well yeah, just that the map scroll is usually the problem. I have almost similar CPU and cursor moves just fine.

If it really is the mouse pointer that is the problem then its speed can be reduced via control panel -> mouse -> motion tab. Set mouse speed low enough, that setting will work in SPWAW.
Of course, as I use logitech mouse and included mouse control software I'm not sure if these options are available for non-logitech users.

I was going to echo Voriax's comments after doing some more testing.

With the throttle and slo-DOS programs on the link above, you can slow down any processor dependent task including those used in SPWAW for the map scrolls in artillery and deployment.

If it is just the mouse that is the problem, then do as Voriax has said and change the mouse speed / acceleration in control panel. I have logitech too, so I don't know what your options are compared to mine.

If you are going to use Throttle and Slo-Dos, be sure to create shortcuts on your desktop for each and shortcuts to cut them off. Read the text files that come with them and modify the shortcuts with the appropriate parameters.
