Alright, this is straightforward enough--1 is vs the computer only, 2 is via PBEM, and 3 is H2H in online play. I play vs the AI only--version 8.2 has some improvements in AI force selection, but it's still far from perfect. Can't blame us for trying.

I do play against the AI, but lately it's been almost all PBEM. That's all I've really had time for! I've done the online thing too, which is cool, but not for medium to big scenarios. Even with the small ones we've had to up the time per turn to like 6-8 minutes! And I like how a turn is supposed to represent 5 minutes of real time. Hell I've taken up to 2 hours just take a PBEM turn!!

Yike, you reminded me of one thing I left out--H2H online.

I mostly play pbem, but still play some scenarios that interest me vs. AI in downtime between turns. I often set up 'test' battles Vs. the AI to get the feel of a certain weapon's capabilities, develop new tactics for a specific nation, etc ... For me, that's a lot of the fun of Spwaw ... just messing around with stuff

I play only against humans. Both PBEM and On-Line. And only H2H. It's price system lures the players to buy more realistic oob. And it has other thinks that I like. Such as not "*" at all ... not casualties report ... etc.

AI long campaign only. I like using and trying different things with all nations. I have always liked the career things in games. Like Baseball where you play year after year. Bring your players along and try to improve them. Same way in links golf/ Im 186 in career winnings but 4 in the season. Have played four seasons so far. Same way in SPWAW where you try and bring your core force thru the whole war. Only different way i play is i have a core force for every nation.

unfortunately no time for H2H/PBEM yet! Also I need to play the AI often, so I know how to make it play better in my scenarios!

I play the AI to learn the equipment of the various eras. I play other humans (only PBEM right now, want to try H2H soon) to learn tactics.

One of the most enjoyable PBEM environments I have found is Double Deuce's multiplayer Red Snow thingie. It is the camraderie you develop with your team mates that makes this unique.

Seems it´s little known, but in (non H2H fr) SPWAW you can disable the "*" thingy by....hitting the "*" (with SHIFT) key!

I played the AI only for years and years (Long Camps mostly), then I discovered PBEM. Now, I play MCs only when my opponents are too damn slow getting the turns back to me. I never play scenarios unless they are made for PBEM; those are my favorite!

These polls of yours are great Gunny. Thanks!

As I suspected, the majority of gamers play the AI. Even with all the griping and discontent, the old AI in SP can still put up a pretty good fight.

Mostly against the AI. I really enjoy playing PBEM, but as I discovered a year or two ago (after trying to complete some PBEMs against Goblin and Viking and Jess), my away from keyboard activities kept me from finishing most of those games. Also, since I play with command/control turned ON, I found it very difficult to arrange PBEM games. So, these days I look for creative and challenging ways to play against the AI.

It used to be AI only, but it seems that I've gone over to the Dark Side......................... it's PBEM now.
Nothing else.

As advertised ..................... it's a different game, those humans are very tricky to play against.

I think you should have included H2H vs the AI, and H2H PBEM.
