Didn't Robin Hood do something like that?

Jeez; judging by this guy's pictures (since I can't read the captions) the entire European countryside is still littered with WWII wrecks and cold war era cast-offs. http://members.tripod.de/hartziel/typen.htm and

While doing a terrain walk over part of the Hurtgen Forest battlefield back in 1987 or 88 with members of the US 2nd Brigade, 8th Infantry Division staff, I was surprised at the paraphernalia still left on the battlefield. We were with American and German vets of the battle, and for a start we were easily able to find fighting positions (foxholes) from various stages of the battle. But there was more. In one German bunker we found individual equipment still in the bunker, including a gas mask and other bits of equipment. We also found a US tank tread from LT Raymond E. Fleig's attempt to reinforce the 3/112th Inf. of the 28th Inf. Div. at Schmidt by driving tanks along a cliff-side trail beside the Kall River. The track was still there on the incredibly narow trail, and you wonder how a tank was able to negotiate the trail at all.
