In The original Pacific war replenishment groups could carry replacement aircraft for CV's at sea and fuel.

Is this form of at seas replenishment available in WITP? If so how does it work?

ps: Sorry if this has been answered before, if so I must have missed it.

CVE's can be overloaded and the spare planes refit CV airgroups while at sea

Some CVEs arrive with special air groups that just transfer aircraft to CVs in range that have the same type. I forget the designation used in the squadron name off the top of my head, but they don't conduct flight ops. The CVE is overloaded and if you just follow at a distance your air combat TFs they'll keep them up to strength.

But CVs in a (major, supplied) port will still receive replacement aircraft/pilots automatically (as in UV), right? Please say yes, please say yes.

Simple question on this.. Do they have to be IN port, or just Docked in port ?

I have read the manual and it does not mention that how you can replenish carrier aircraft groups at sea from following replishment escort carriers.
Does anyone know if it can be done and what are the procedures.

I think the replentishment air groups are designated VR . They don't fly combat missions so be careful. You'll notice they overload the CVE.

Does anyone know the range requirement for replacemnets to tranfer between air groups?

I know it works from playing Scenario 6.

1) Find a CVE with a VR-xx squadron.
2) Put it in a Replenishment TF.
3) Operate this TF within transfer range of your CVBGs.

That's it. You'll see the VR-xx squadron numbers start to reduce as they fly off planes to other carriers that need them.

Some things to keep in mind. The CVEs with the VR-xx squadrons can not fly normal missions. So best to stick some 'normal' CVEs with them to provide CAP. DO NOT remove the VR-xx squadrons from the CVE! You'll find you can't put them back on because the groups are too large (there's a hole in the code here). Once the VR squadrons are depleted, send them back to port to pick up more planes.

Hope this helps.

They CAN fly normal missions if the CVE isn't overloaded beyond capacity. So, after you transfer some planes off the others will fly missions until they, themsleves, are transferred.

I don't think the Japanese gets any of these groups that automatically transfer as replacements. The Japanese player has to transfer replacements manually.

You're right, I didn't consider that they can fly their groups after the A/C onboard drops below the magic 115% mark.

Still, with 100 planes on a 30 capacity (34 for 115%) CVE, you are far better off planning for the defense of your Replenishment TF by including a few regular CVE in the group from the get-go, rather than wait until you fly off 66 planes.

JMO, YMMV.
