A beach assault scenario remade for Version 7 with the newer player in mind. I had a good time playtesting this to check that I hadn't made any errors. Your chance to lead the First Special Service Force as they capture an Island off the South of France in August, 1944. The island must be taken so it cannot provide fire support against the Allied landing in Southern France. Moderately large, it will take a couple of hours to play. Bunkers to bust but you have troops that are ready and willing to take on any and all challenges. I have added a few turns to this so you will have time to experiment with bunker-busting and fire-and-manuever tactics. In other words, I don't believe you will be rushed. But you will have to keep your troops moving. If you want to try this scenario, email me,

and it will be promptly sent to you. Please Specify "Devil's Brigade" so you receive the correct files.

Redleg, what a cool idea for neophyte players! I am sure they'll appreciate it. If I were a new player, though, I'd be more enamored with a smaller force to command as new players are more interested in progressing through a battle and seeing their results and/or mistakes. Better to lead a company than a battalion when you're a newbie, figuratively speaking.

I was thinking that "new" players might be ones who have yet to try a beach assault, for example. If they do, what better way than going ashore with an elite force? Besides, this is a rather "special" scenario that has some things in it that a rather new player probably has not seen. Thinking of a similar thing with an airborne operation.

Training exercises, using what you learned in the tutorials. Sounds great even for a vet.
