howdy all
i haven't been around in awhile, nor really played SPWAW in awhile. as a matter of fact, i just re-installed it after many many months. 8.0d that is. I came here and saw there is now 8.2, so i did the True Update thing. Unfortunately True Update wouldn't take the game past 8.01 or something, and the in-game version still says 8.0.
So, (and perhaps this has been covered in another post, but I sure couldn't find it), my question is ... why won't it update any further than that? Do i REALLY have to DL the whole thing AGAIN? is my True Update broken?

Sorry but as far as I know you must download the new version. I beleive it has also been recommended that you do a clean install for the new version (delete the older version in other words).

That includes the old SPWAW directories also.
The uninstall leaves them on the HD - you have to delete them manually.

no just rename the same with any other version. And 8.2 is a fresh complete install. i have 7 and 8.0d still on my machine. I have no idea why i kept them just have. I play only in 8.2 now anyways. I am lucky in that i have a lot of space on my hard drive still.

well, now i wait AGAIN until much later, i.e. internet traffic is slower after 2am .....
for the 4th time now my DL has been fricken corrupted, or failed, or etc etc etc ...... using FilePlanet because that's where I've got a login ....

not to be a griper, but WHY can't I just DL an update of True Update and let that update SPWAW 8.0d to 8.2 (instead of just 8.01 as it is currently) ???? such huge files are a real PITA, even for us broadband users. isn't/wasn't True Update supposed to help with that?
i know it's a free game and all that yada yada yada, and i appreciate it, i really do, but it gets REAL irritating having to DL 400+ megs repeatedly, especially when the DL fails so often. .... ....
