Status: offline 		Do I have to upgrade aircraft at every stage of the way? Or can I leave some units dormant with old equipment, and when the equipment I'm waiting on becomes available will I have the option to 'bypass' units to get to the newer stuff?

An example will clear this up:

I have a Fighter Group located at Pearl Harbor, I really don't need them in action at the moment, or in the forseeable future. They currently are equipped with P40-B's. I could ofcourse upgrade them to the P40 E which is the current standard, but it would really tax my replacement pool, and they arent even a frontline unit.
But in 6 months or so when the P40 N becomes available in the pool, can I just bypass the P40 E and go straight to the N model? or do I have to be constrained to a silly progression line?

Status: offline 		You can not manually jump an upgrade. The computer can though. Just click on the allow upgrade when you are ready to upgrade them, but DO NOT click the upgrade now option.

When you end the turn, the computer should jump the P40E and go to the P40N.

Status: offline 		I would let the ones at Pearl upgrade...use the B models on the front lines. They have longer legs than the E models. Two hex difference in range. Four hexes round trip.

Status: offline 		I leave the AVG in China in the B models because you don't get birds with range worth diddly for quite a while in the whole China/East Asia Command. I use the AVG in the B models in Rangoon area.

Status: offline 		Use the B model where you need escort / LR CAP or where you have to transfer between far away bases.
For simple CAP the E model is good enough. In PH and west coast it makes sense to upgrade to E, but for other theatres the B is better. Especially, it is hard to flee the PI or later Java with the E model.
