Am I correct in thinking that if I assigned an aircraft squadron to a "Naval Attack" mission, and also set that sqaurdons "CAP" slider to 20%.... then 20% of the A/C will fly CAP and the reminaing 80% will attack a naval target if one comes into site... If no target appears on a given turn, 20% will still fly CAP but the other 80% will rest...

Is this correct???

You are correct. The only thing that might affect the ones on CAP is the altitude if an incoming strike happens.

Just to be sure you understand (as you probably do, but anyway), these fighters with the Naval Attack mission will not be acting as fighter escorts for attack aircraft on this strike mission, rather they themselves will also be attacking ships using bombs....unless you also assign some fighters to Escort mission, there will be no escort.
