Has anyone here beaten the marianas scenario as the Japanese? it seems virtually impossible. Especially trying to beat the American fleet in air combat. I think I might try to keep the mobile fleet back as long as possible and have my pilots training day in and day out for 1-6 weeks or as long as possible, give them the best leaders and upgrade their planes, then try and beat the American air fleet...any suggestions?

As for land i can usually wreck havoc on the American forces and cause quite a hefty number of casualties, I think I could drive them back into the sea in the battle for Saipan.

The longer you wait, the more prepared and dug in he will be.

I'm talking about the American air fleet...He can't be more dug in and ready, because he's just floating around the Marianas attacking my navy.

I am having the same problem I tryed using the mobile fleet to surprise the us navy by letting them pass and attack from behind. But the U.S. Fleet took out the entire fleet.

I guess the game is realistic, because I've played into '44 a couple times and I have never seen the IJN even score more than one hit against a 2 CV or larger US TF, and those were hits on CVL's; I have NEVER seen a hit scored on a US CV after 1/44, and even in mid-'43 taking on a US CV TF is just throwing planes away. As the US, I've even parked a CV TF off Japan for the sole purpose of drawing airstrikes to shoot planes down.

The only use for IJN CV's is to raid on the periphery and hope to sink some transports. Even then, you're only looking for VP's, because the allies have way more AK's and TK's than they can really use (AP's are a little more scarce).

I wonder if it's even worth the VP risk to bring out the IJN CV's.
