Do you find that when you should be thinking of other things you are thinking about this game? Is WITTP the all consuming game? This is sort of like the girlfriend thread.

WITP is a serious time consumer(in a good way). I get on a roll after about 5 turns, making plans that i just HAVE to see how
they develop. Just one more turn, one more turn..... meanwhile,
the laundry piles up,my taxes need to be done, car needs an oil change,i haven't eaten in 14 hours,my right hand develops arthritis from billions of mouse clicks,my social life has been
utterly destroyed(girlfriend..what's that???) . But the war
must go on, i just have to invade Munda.........

No. Too many game-destroying bugs still around.

PBEM is a good thing: you just can't say "just a last turn", you have to wait.

Of course, the problem is to limit the numbers of PBEM you play at the same time.

So, your games crashed on 1/3/42, 3/23/42, 2/16/42, 4/9/42, 6/6/42, 4/14/42, and 2/19/42?

Seriously though - i have yet to see a PBEM reported to go the distance on the AARs without some serious/fatal flaws showing up (like all their A6M3 evaporating or something). Admittedly, i don't read them all, and sometimes a player would admit defeat before 1945.

Are there any PBEM games that have gone the distance (1945-1946?)

Hi, I think both players tend to run out of ships by mid June 1943.

I keep thinking of Steel Panthers, Steel Panthers, Modern and the Combat Mission series......and the lack of time i have to play these games while working away on WitP......I think days should be lengthened from 24 hours to 32.

But true.

Let me know if you figure out a way of controlling players and making them not so blood thirsty

Both his Spiteness and myself have had an unit (small one) vanish into thin air in our game (up to july 42 by now) but have decided to attribute it to a bad case of malaria complicated by gonorrhea (the dreaded Solomon's clap)
Otherwise no problems (Rubs wood vigorously, while throwing salt over left shoulder)

As the Japanese player, with historical hindsight knowing the US will not just settle, there is only one approach ........ take everything and sink all in your path. And do it damn quick before the dragon finally awakes and stomps on us

Of course if you wanted to slow things down across the entire theater, just make prep points way more important.

50% of the folks would *still* use them with 0% prep even if it incurred 50% disabled on landing. Those of us who wait for bonuses wait for bonuses, those who don't, will never change

Although ... 50% on land units and trippling the SYS damage rates and quartering aircraft repair speed might just slow folks down a bit

WitP Hardcore switch Yes/No

As long as that switch activates a line item supply list that makes the player move spare socks by the pair, rolls of toilet paper and everything else every unit on the map required in real life. Go for it.

Then we will have everybody playing as the Japanese instead of as the Allies. At least the Japanese could live on a rice ball, canteen of water per day, and made clothes out of leaves. Transporting those supplies forward is a snap compared to what the Allied player would have to ship forward.

trying to find the proper balance for beer shipments could be a killer though.

Too little and they take a serious morale hit, too much and you disable 1/2 their strength for 3 turns.

Yes, last PBEM turn I spend 45 minutes before I pushed the ready button.. It was not the interface but the amount of problems my opponent created for me
