I decided to get the game and give it a go. I guess it is the only way to find out if I really like this type of games.

I have a few questions.
1. Is there any way to change the font so it is easier to read?

2. The text seems to be overlapping in certain screens is it because I am using a different resolution for my desktop versus the game?

3. Which paches should I load since there are mixed results for the current patch?

Thanks and I will be back with more game questions once I learn the basics.

There is an alternative font but looks like you are using it...that's the text overlap.

I'm using the public beta 2.42 patch. Still bugs there but rarely game spoiling. Most of the time anyways.

So, how do I go to the original font if I am already using the alternative?

I have downloaded all of the patches up to 2.30. The current font is very difficult to read. The screenshots on this forum and other sites seem to be much clearer and easier to read. The text on my current game version is BOLD and overlapping.

My bad...I thought you were talking War in the Pacific. Uncommon Valor doesn't have alternate fonts.

Could you post us a screenshot ?

Are you sure you set the game resolution correctly ?

Here is a screenshot. I have put a box around the overlapping text. You can also see that is very difficult to read the text. I only saw two resolution options in the game. 1024x768 and 800x600 were the two options. I am running at 1024x768. I also have an ATI 9800 Pro graphics card with the latest software. I am not sure if this has something to do with my graphics card?

Any help is appreciated since I can't read most of the numbers and 3s look like 9s.

I've never seen that...looks like the font is bolded. I don't know how you would change it.

Have you try downgrading the game resolution to 600x800 ?

Does it makes a difference (apart the obvious black band you'll have around the screen).

Hi,

I've often found that slowing down the acceleration on these top end video cards resolves a lot of these types of issues......... for me at least.
Try slowing your card down to a mid-range setting.

I tried the 800x600 and that did not work. I also tried slowing down the acceleration on the graphic card and that did not work either.

any other thoughts.

The exact same thing happened to me ... IIRC my wife fiddled with the Windows font setting and it messed up the in-game text. I think I reset it by going into the control panel / display settings and setting font size back to normal.

Try setting windows to smooth fonts?

What smooth screen type setting on your machines? Do you have the box checked? If Yes, is it ClearType or Standard?

You can find it under Properties - Apperance - Effects -
