There seems to be a series of "cheats" the AI uses in game to make the conflict more challenging for the human player. In fairness, some of these may be necessary because the AI could never be as cunning as a human. I don't think any of us would like each game to be a walkover.

So, what "AI cheats" do we think there are in game. What ones are acceptable and which of these would we least like in there ?

1) AI aircraft are more immune to flak

It is suggested that AI plans suffer less to flak than human owned ones.

This is something that I am able to stomach. The AI seems quite poor at remembering where the AA guns were last turn, and judging whether ther AA risk is worth it. It also flies straight lines to targets rather than by-passing flak traps on way. In view of this I think I would be content if the AI suffered 50% of damage that a human player did.

2) AI aircraft have a combat advantage in air to air

It is claimed that in air to air battles, the AI may receive some advantage.

I have mixed feelings on this one. If there were an AI bonus, I would like it to be slight. 10% ?

3) AI persue fleeing human player aircraft further across the channel than human ones can chase

This one needs some explanation. In BoB, if the AI is the RAF, then it's planes will chase retreating LW bombers all the way across the channel to France. When the roles are reversed, and the human player sends fighters after the fleeing LW, the contact is broken not far from the Britssh coast. There seems to be a line drawn along the channel demarking the point of persuit, which the AI moves.

Again I have mixed feelings on this. The AI needs some help now and again. I does, however, seem fairly competant at giving it's withdrawing bombers extra fighter protection on the return leg. What annoys me about the cheat is that the "line" is obviously moved, so it's an "in your face cheat". Also it's often at the point where you just get your planes to make contact with the enemy.

So, I know there needs to be an advantage, but I would like the lines to be somewhat closer together across the channel. Perhaps half as far apart ?

The main one for me in BTR is the turn you move a gruppe to a new a/f (it thus being non-operational) the AI will strafe the a/f immediately without the Axis player being able to react. ULTRA was good but the intelligence info wasn't disseminated to the front line Sqns that quickly.

Hi VS.

Yes, that was another rather blatant one that it pulled off. Got to annoy me too.

Then I began to get revenge, by switching low strength units between various flak-trap airbases to tempt the AI in.

Then it felt like I was cheating ! Which I suppose I was.
