just a really heartfelt,and disappointed statement to warn all the community that someone on the forums is putting out a nasty virus threw the e mailing list because its been about a week since the news letter and my machine has been acting goofy eversince,, and the reason i know that its someone from here is because the e-mail that came to me was adressed to me as a zip file and when outlook express previewed it, it backdoored my admin/settings folder with a whole bunch of Jpeg's and MP3's of differant SPWAW icons and links with bullcrap exe.s and even a hyperthreaded worm that allowed itself to reopen and jump around the taskmanagers processes list . IT also makes itself obdvious with the flashing and strobing of the blue title desktop box highlighter, flashing them increasingly fast between their blue and gray active and inactive tones until the box shuts itself down. ALL of U watch for any silly systems glyches like this. it also gave me two Anti virus EXE,s on the task manager list . SOME PEOPLE ARE SURE WAISTES OF SKIN !!! RT

Riun, all this nasty stuff was embedded in a Matrix newsletter? I don't open ANYTHING with a file attachment unless I know exactly what it is.

Can you be more specific? When did this happen?

I wonder if its related to what happened to the Depot?

BTW, Bernie is the only one with the know-how to restore the site from the back-up files, so until he gets home and checks in, we're down.

After a complete overwrite of the opreating system, 9 differant antivirus/spyware washes, and imaging and ghosting everything I wanted to keep off the alternate harddrive !! Gunny I don't think the virus is being transmitted maliciously but its definately a manufactured bug with alot of detail and at least we're lucky that the creator did'nt put a limiter on the rate of infection or the time it becomes odvious. It backdoors the adminastrator/settings file threw winNT and makes some ficticious opening EXE,s in the task manager like a pair of antivirus program exe's that I didn't install or setup and enable?? that repeat or reopen when u try to end process?? I noticed it most when I was playing battlefield veitnam and saw the Ping shoot up nasty as I said before approximately a week after the newsletter?? so I started snooping at taskmanager to find out where the ambiant CPU and internet bandwidth went??RT P.S. get registry cleaner and get it scaning startup new registry entrys .

Riun T: besides the problems it would have been more useful to provide a more detailed description of the files you got dumped with, ie their names instead of your "descriptive" definitions.

Also it does help to get something better than Outlook Express..
No mail client should automaticly unzip a file, just bad practice.

The first file that opened on the preview window, which I have since disabled!, was called natily and that opened an EXE, named isabella, and that followed the root path of C/ anything common to win NT files admin and local settings folders, and a folder called _ _. . SO who'ed ave knowen?? LIKE TO GET ALL jay and silent Bob movie ending on some hacker *ss
Got no respect for any of that kind of prankage.So does anyone know a good contingentcy plan according to the forums procedures for this kind of CRAPFARM cause I just read that from bernie's site as of the 19th in the depot we can expect that the master Adress file for the forums is now open knowledge. SO do we discontinue using the old accounts and login new registries and paswords or what?? RT
