I guess since there is no official response that there is no word on the next patch. Need to wait for buying this game, seems like way too many problems yet. Maybe another 5 or 6 patches they will have a playable game.

It's playable now, and you may have a long wait for another 5 or 6 patches.

Exuse, maybe playable not right word? I read about problems with large air combat, naval bombardment, land units disappear, land units do not move properly, auto convoy not working, supply system very basic . When these problems or errors be fixed? And is there any offical notification or do they not tell?

None taken. can understand the frustration of waiting. We are still working/testing for annoying bugs like disapearing LCU's of which one scenario has been nailed and a save created for MikeW to examine.

We are moving forward....slowly, but surely. Keep the faith.

Have you fixed the problem that makes Japanese MSWs with delivery in Tokyo show up in the allied ship arrival screen? 1.77 on CHS 1.03. I have save games if needed.

So, if one is waiting to start a new game, should we wait until 1.7 comes out or start with 1.6 and upgrade?

If you believed every negative post you read on this forum, it may seem that WitP is unplayable. Believe me, and many others who play it, it isn't.

I bought it the day it was released and have played it ever since. I currently have 6 PBEMs going. It was playable with version 1.0, and improving even now.

IIRC, It is to do with the respawining of MSW.
They overflow into the Allied portion of the database because there is a spare slot there.

Remember some discussion in Editor forum about this during CHS setup stage.

I am wondering if the 1.8 patch is in process or are there still some problems with the 1.795beta patch? I am interested in starting my first PBEM games( 1 as Japan and 1 as Allies ) but I was waiting for the next patch.

The 1.795 patch has disappearing leaders. I also read that it allows Chinese units to get Chinese replacements even if China is completely conquered by Japan.

v1.795 beta has some problems. When Mike has some time, we'll need to release another public beta with those fixed before we can feel comfortable with the final release.

Regards,

- Erik

You just start a PBEM game, and when the patch comes, You Start a New One!!

I only have 2 games going since my 2 other opponents bailed.
Maybe I'll start a 3rd after the next patch.

Thank you Erik, I was wondering if the problems are upgraded games or all games. I know that sometimes upgraded games have problems that started earlier. Has anyone had problems with games started with 1.795berta?

I started a pbem with Scout1 using this patch. I have just had an airlifted artillery brigade disappear from the display at Luganville. The troops and guns are still there according to the base display, but the unit does not show on the map and does not show when I try to display troops at base. This did not happen when I used the same move on my updated (from 1.6) game against the AI. Any ideas, please?

Might be due to the recently id'd disabled units only left in the parent unit that then get destroyed causing the fragment to also disapear. Might be a new as yet un-id'd bug too. I recently shipped Burma Area army by ship to Rangoon and then air transported the rest. All seemed fine but a couple turns later the HQ began to "disapear" in the manner you described.

I'll say this. I don't care what golden gifts Matrix pulls out of its fur-lined heinie in the next patch, I will continue to adhere to three basic principles when playing WitP, and I advise others to do the same:

1) Air transport units only if your world will come to an end if you don't.
2) Change carrier air group assignments only when a tsunami has inundated the carrier and you have no choice (and don't try to get any use out of them, just put them away in a safe place somewhere and hope they don't wander off on their own. When you have air units at land bases due to their carrier being knocked out, if you save the carrier, put these units back on it and leave them alone, even if the carrier is not yet operational. This is particularly important when you have air group fragments scattered around - gather them together in one place without delay. Do not try to use them as pseudo-LBA).
3) Never, and I mean never, rely on an artificial stupidity player aid like auto convoy or sub patrol. Micromanage all the way.

And, of course, there's the overarching truth to which we of little faith adhere: "When Matrix says anything is fixed, don't believe it for a minute."

Game IS playable, and really no program is EVER 100 pct bug free, if your waiting for that Your going to be waiting forever....

I think game was/is on a sale price so if waiting to buy , well it will be back to full price at a point...

Game is playable, 1.6x official fixed a number of play problems, 1.7x will fix leader problem at the least, but again theres never going to be a fully bug free version, theres no such animal in the programming world.

House rules can be used for large air combat, like a set max CV's in a fleet

I'm using 1.6x and see no bombardment problems, I suspect those that do have a problem mis set the mission also after one bombardment it may say bombardment mission but it defaults to surface, you have to each turn order bombardments, thats not a bug, its supposed to default to surface after bombardment so it can engane in daytime as a surface TF.

Land units.. the disappearing bug is related to operator error on air transport or any transporting of land forces, if transport the MAIN fragment when it is smaller then the moved fragment both disappear, once th main unit is smaller then the moved fragment the operator MUST stop transporting by air that Main fragment 1 turn so the Main becomes the Fragment and the bigger moved fragment is renamed the Main, then you can resume transport without both vanishing.

Land units move properly the problem is that if move all at once the faster ones do move ahead of others,
by delaying moving such as TANK units and other more mobile, you can ensure they don't move ahead of infantry..

It can be said to be a bug but it doesn't make it unplayable.

Auto convoy was pretty much fixed in 1.6x, when I installed 1.6x auto convoys started working like picking up oil/res and bringing same to japan..

As to supplies its been streesed to have auto convoy supply a base its best to have a HQTR unit there that will DRAW supply to it.

But for forward areas really one would want to manually run their supply, it is not broken

Game is playable, you apparently don't have the game so you really don't know how playable game is
only those WITH the game can really say, some disagree on points but the games not unplayable.

Those who don't have the game cannot state if game is playable or not, you say "i Read" but you don't have game, if don't you have no business saying it is unplayable, buy it and see for self.

Your talking of a CHS version... CHS is a Mod, all beta testing should be on the Original game, if theres a problem with CHS, perhaps its in the CHS mod, not necessary in the original.

I don't like reading of problems with mods,
because such can be due to a mod error like moving units around in database, so unless same errors in untouched original game files I don't see point in talking of a problem in a MODDED game (CHS)

If its the spare slot.. what if simply fill the slot if its one that can be used?

Create an allied ship but one not necessary in game
just to fill the slot.

The china thing is really reasonable... Japan might take all Major Citys but no way could japan control ALL that population!

So there would still be recruits coming in and there would be slight supplies of arms getting through as japan couldn't cover every inch of china...
