Game are you most looking forward to in 2006???

Galactic Civ II is at the top of my list. Can't wait to design my own ships. Always liked putting big guns of fast little ships and zip around and torpedo the big ships.

1) Les Grognards

2) CMBB Campaigns

3) Take command

4) CoTA

Hard to narrow it down to just one title, but if I had to it would have to be Les Grognards.

Paradox is doing the Euro release only. Galactic Civ is being published by here in the states for us Americans. ;) But, you can believe, if I see a Paradox word on the box, then nope, I'll wait for bargain bin price on it. ;) If I thought Paradox was getting a nickel out of it I wouldn't give them a dime. ;)

Oh and you misinterpret what I mean when I say I "won't support Paradox". I'll still get the games, but, they will be used from ebay, which means Paradox doesn't get a nickel, dime, penny from me. I just get the game knowing I gave them no support. ;)

If you are mentioning Heroes of might and magic V, it is being developed by nival (Silent storm and etherlord + eveil island)
Given silent storm and etherlord fame, V should be better than IV I hope

Dungeons & Dragons Online (Finally a re-definition of what a fantasy MMPORG even is)
Star Wars Empire at War (Re-defining RTS pieces of crap to Not quite such crap)
Squad Leader (Re-defining Paradox haters into Paradox lovers)
Empire in Arms, GOA, and all the rest (Re-defining me into a once again multi-title per year purchaser from Matrix)
Civilization 5 (Just when you didn't think it could get any better they've now added grunting avatars)

And what this genre or genre collection surely needs is LESS support from its gamers.

I also buy Paradox games used or bargain bin but it's because of a very specific and singular policy of theirs.

I have the beta of Gal Civ 2. As I preordered. To be honest the beta says to me I was hasty.

Why,what did you expect.I think this game is going to be the turn based hit of 2006, with my experience of the beta.

My prediction is that its going to be a very slow first two quarters for wargaming, just not much on the immediate horizon.

I do hope to be proven wrong though...

Well everything does seem to come in cycles of two's. Last years lineup of games was pretty dismal and I'm talking about mainstream titles. But, there were a lot of wargames actually that were released. So, this is probably the down year for wargames as mainstream hopefully picks up with better stuff than last year. Could be a "bargain bin year"! hehe

Given Combat Leader's history you should probably wait at least 3 more years before making a disparaging comment like that...

The SA project is barely over a year old.

My comment was not meant to be disparaging and I apologize if you took it that way....Lack of updates simply had me wondering about it, and you shoud be grateful that I still consider the title enough to give it a plug.........but, whenever it comes out, I will be looking forward to it because there has not been any turn based game that will remind one of Victory Games AMBUSH and BATTLE HYMN series....

How's it coming along? From the boards it seems a lot of people agree it looks like a very promising title.

Well try to refrain from the word "vaporware" when plugging the title elsewhere...

Er well I'm going for a bit more of the UP FRONT feel, just with hexes, line of sight, and other more staple wargaming goodies... So perhaps it will still have ample nostalgic value in the AMBUSH department.

The primary reason I seldom post my banner anymore is so I don't encourage thread-hijacking in regards to commentary on my projects. That and I'd hate to be accused of having an alternative motivation for posting habitually (As I personally think is often the case for Mr. NWS over at Wargamer, god love him).

So all I will really say is to continue to check the website. I have rewritten the main SA page and started the SA F.A.Q. page over with the more useful and appropriate Q&A. Email us some questions and we will try to post the answers..

My goodness, not only do you not graciously accept my apology, as you are compelled to place juvenile finger pointing icons and belabor the point further, but you drag poor Chris from NWS into this...learn to be a bit more tolerant, since my original comment was only speculative and did not damn your game in any way... also, since I was well aware you were around to comment, I expected a simple "Do not worry JP, SA is alive and well" response which would have satisfied everyone, without the need to lecture...

I now apologize to the original thread starter for even bringing up SA which resulted in this unecessary diversion...
