I was curious so I started digging through what references I have and found in Whitley's that Lamotte-Piquett spent a period in dock in Osaka Japan in September 1941. It seems unlikely that it would participate on the allied side.

I would imagine that Lamontte-Piquette spent a period in Osaka because she had been captured with the fall of French Indo-China, as she had been left in port due to fuel shortages. However, if I included her in the mod I would have her escape to Australia or the DEI before then.

Regards,

Actually, Indochina was VICHY French and so her forces were ALLIED to Japan, nominally. Japan did not take over the ship until she killed all the French officers - 1944 I think- at some special dinner! [Only one unit escaped - a FFL "regiment" (battalion) at Hanoi didn't send its officers to the "dinner" and instead began a dramatic march - to Kunming - up the rail line! They then joined the Allies!] Japan COULD HAVE taken over the ship and other assets sooner, but didn't.

Thai ships damaged in a brief war in 1940 with France were also repaird in Japan. Thailand did the reverse - a nominal ally of Japan the Thai staged a coup on the Japanese in 1945.

OK, so there's a mutiny in 1941 some time after the battle of Koh Chang and the officers and crew decide to join the FF in Australia. I still like the idea of her showing up on the Allies. Otherwise the Japanese aren't going to use her and there's no use having her in the game.

The ship is laid up, inactive, with crew given other assignments. You MIGHT get a motly collection including most of her officers and a few of her petty officers to attempt this. They might also recruit some others - a motly collection of various people from various services - and perhaps a few locals thrown in the mix. But if you do that, you should rate the ship at about 1 for night combat and 10 for day combat! NO experience is the closest you can come (and it isn't close enough) to how much value this ship would be as a fighting unit!

I think it is much more interesting if Japan siezes the ship and gives it to Thailand - at the time it gives the ex Thai provinces of Cambodia back!
Thailand does not need ships to sail and shoot much. One load of ammo is enough!

It depends upon when in 1941 the "mutiny" occurs doesn't it? If done soon enough after Koh Chang then the Allies might get a pretty decent fighting unit out of the deal.

I'm trying to correct the dpi setting on JWE's AK/AP transp graphics.
He has them at 96dpi, and they need to be at 182dpi to get rid of the pink outline during combat animation.

Can you artists clue me in on how to fix them?

Any solutions to this?

JWE has vanished.
The art is really good. I hate to discard it because of the pink replay outline.

This is the sub. We don't know WHAT they did! Only two sunk in harbors were surrendered! We NEVER found the rest - nor any records nor testimony either!

Seeing the RAN used the white ensign till the 1960's and the national flag wasn't flown at sea, only in harbour. The picture already shows it with the Australian flag (at sea that is)

Nice Skyraider, Cobra. New request:

I would like a Japanese version of the French Le Fantasque super-destroyer. Same general arrangement of armament, but just pointing in the other direction, and styled in your own trademark fashion.

I always thought that Tiger was wasted. Would have been perfect as a CV escort, a la Renown. But, a 1941 rebuild is pushing it considering Hood could not get yard time.

Might have been able to do it in a US yard. As you know, lots of British ships got big refits and repairs in America.

That said, I'd like to see what sort of anti-air rating she'd produce with all those nice guns. Probably not as high as the Prince of Wales, but certainly looks respectable.

Ron: Agreed, throwing her away with war looming was an idiotic move, IMHO. The idea is she's rebuilt in 37-38 around the time Renown is, and the picture shows her 1941 appearance

Terminus: Here's an American Rebuild of Tiger, and a screenie of her in-game (yes, her AA outfit is pretty darn good, though not as good as PoW's)

Thanks.

Which two?

I'm not sure about the Mustang. I don't think the Venom is a Vampire.

Would it be possible to get a Skyraider for the Navy. This is the side I am using...

Still, as I suspected, very respectable for an early-war ship.
