It will take a lot of time to download the demo due to heavy traffic.
For those who despise RTS, please dont post anything regarding (pointless) debates on TBS or RTS system
This is just for those who are in this forum who are interested in this title ( I remember I saw some threads which mention this game)

With cable modem, it took me about 15 hours to download approx 800M demo.
Well, basic game play is like Rome Total war. You have map in front of you
You plan and produce units and then you invade
Camara is interesting. There is a movie mode which will change your game play screen into a movie screen.
It will be a better starwars game. Actual combat is similar to those of homeworld 1 or 2.
I dont know whether this game will have large appeal to members here.

Read some bad comments over at Wargamer.

Just another RTS by all acounts. Holds nothing new plus space battles arent in 3d.

I picked up the demo this morning (CET); took just over half an hour.

Initial thoughts: it looks pretty good. Nobody seriously expected a dramatic transformation of the whole RTS concept with this game, but having played the demo has reinforced my conviction that I'm going to buy the actual game, once it's released.

Force Commander was awful, Galactic Battlegrounds was so-so and Empire at War looks good so far.

Sad when they try and make you pay for premium service for downloading a demo ... good thing there are still places that don't do this.

Filefront gives you 500K a second as opposed to Gamespot's 20 K

I agree with both Wodin and Terminus at the same time
It is the better starwars game but could be disappointing to some
I was disppointed by the execution of combat stage. I wasnt a big fan of homeworld and the combat part of empire at war feels the same as that of homeworld series:Lack of control..
I expected much more for combat (tight control etc)

Not really, no... Judging by the demo, of course... There's only one resource (money), for instance.

You get an amount of credit per planet you own, modifiable by structures (i.e. mines). If you play the Rebels, you can steal credits from the Imperials.

Point was also raised at Wargamer that the folks who developed the game could have turned a lot of potential customers away with the inclusion of that 3D plane in ship combat. I liked the demo. Relatively light game set in the SW universe. And you know modders are going to hit it like gangbusters.

If it's moddable... Is there going to be an editor? Because that would be very unlike Lucasart.

HTTR is hardly a RTS - there is no rush tactic

Game seems to have a lot in common with Imperium Galactica 2 though EAW has more weight to tactics (combat) and less weight to strategy (everything else). I liked to play demo but I'm not going to pay full price for it. 36 € for used box shall do.

And what comes to modding, check this out
http://www.technical-difficulties.com/hacks/eaw

Note: I haven't done anything mentioned on that page, too much full games to play with
