My last count was 200+ wargames, not counting magazine games. Been buying them for 35 years now. I love computer games, but nothing is better than making faces at your opponent across a map full of counters.

I've played Longest Day. It's a good game. World in Flames might considered such and I've played it.

Never got into the Europa series though.

Avalon Hill's The Longest Day. Actually finished that one. The Allies won in the last week. Took me 13 months to finish.

Ever play The Gamers games? Their operational combat series is wonderful.

I've also commanded a vessel in the Battle of Trafalgar (Close Action rules) on a gymnasium floor using scale, scratch-built SOL models.

With 100 other guys....that's pretty monstrous........

I was never much of a tactical guy. Always liked the strategic level much better. I've not played anything from The Gamers.

Sounds like fun. Tried Napoleonic miniatures. Not enough time to paint the gazillions of figures. Also, no opponent.

Exceptions exist, of course, and I really did like the Squad Leader series up until ASL, as well as SPWAW. Close Action is a tactical game too, though it is naval warfare.

Their operatonal series is 2 turns per week. Units are divisions, specialty regiments/bn, and Panzer divisions are broken down into about 8 or so units (bns and regiments). Lots of fun.

MOO was the best computer game ever, hands down, no contest, I'll smack the spineless, pathetic sack of slugs that disagrees.

Too bad MOO II and MOO III sucked bad and sucked worse, respectively.

I watched a game using the old Empire rules. It looked fun, but the painting sounded tedious.

OTOH, I really got into WRG 7th ancient miniatures. Have a partially painted Early Achaemenid Persian army that I have to convert to DBA/M rules now....

I've always been interested in Ancients. There's a game series that was pretty interesting. Can't remember it right now. (Guess that brain cell shrivelled up.) Geez, I bought it, but haven't even punched the counters on it. That was a few years ago though.

Well, that certainly goes a long way toward explaining your WiTP "strategy"

MOO was a great game, but MOO II was much better. Forget about MOO III...

I have an old game called Chariots that I believe was SPI. Also have

Alexander the Great!

from AH. After playing Gaugamela using the ancients rules, however, the board game lacks something.

The good side to preservatives: stomach cancer rates have plummeted in the last 50 years or so, and no one really knows why, however, the working theory it is due to preservatives in food.

Also, undertakers have noticed that the Dead don't go bad so quickly... (true facts!)
