Well, athletics had a positive cash flow at Rice forty years ago anyway. For some reason, both Texas A&M and UT played Rice in Houston every year, and the statium was always sold out for both games. Kind of depressing for the home team however.

On the other hand, it was kind of like playing the Allies in the first year: One year in the 60's we actually beat A&M (the only victory that year as I remember) and everyone felt good for at least a couple of years.

Now this is strange - Pompack (who has been wiping the map with me in my PBEM) just informed me (in email) that he was at Rice just a few years before me!

Very small world!!!

It says those who play WitP are of a high caliber.

Agreed, best combination in the world is a 6 mile run, followed by a couple games of ultimate frisbee followed by a tall stack of shortcakes. MMMMMMMMMM *slobber*

Three inches thick?!? I've never seen a pancake like that. You realize those big piles on the plate are *multiple* pancakes stacked up?

Sourdough pancakes are pretty good with a bit of real butter and a dash of real maple syrup. The sourdough provides a tang to offset the sweetness of everything else. Not my favorite food but certainly not a "fat, goo-ridden pile".

Crepes are pretty good, but my favorite flatbread is naan. India has some great flatbreads. Mmmmm...lamb vindaloo, some naan and a big raunchy red wine. Heavenly.

Yes, vindaloo can be spicy. I love spicy. I personally like a shiraz or malbec with vindaloo. The former are much easier to obtain. Black Opal makes a nice, mid-range shiraz. So does Black Swan. I like Trapiche's malbec. Don't buy many high-dollar wines as we like them far too much. Gets expensive.

In thinking about wines for vindaloo, a Spanish rioja came to mind. That would go pretty well too.

You could try a nice Italian.........Barolo or Barbaresco... if you've got the cash....otherwise Salice Salento..........in California...a full Zinfandel......

We aren't big fans of zinfandel, but many say they are some of the biggest and baddest reds around. Now a nice chianti......that's an excellent idea too.
