The Electronic Frontier Foundation announced that apparently for the last 10 years that copiers and printers made by many corporations have been putting almost invisible marks on documents. i found a link to this - they are talking COLOR printers here (although years ago, i read something similar about regular printers, but i am not sure they ever implemented that scheme)
