Hi all.

Reading through the threads and FAQ, I'm still wondering about a couple of things:

Will we be able to punt in Maximum Football?
Is there unlimited substitution?
What about time-outs?
Are there Penalties?
Can we do lateral passes?
Go for the two points?
Are NFL Europe rules supported?

Thanks.

But will we be able to have 53 men rosters and switch players on and off?

And NFL Europe rules, I'm no rule book expert, but for example there are different rules about 40+ yard field goals being worth 4 points and overtime being at least one possession per team. It would be interesting to know whether these are supported.

There's punts in the game
and field goals can go up to 4 or 5 points I don't remember which

Onside kicks = Unsure but you can make special teams plays and you can run fake punts and field goals

Time outs = not sure

Penalties are there

two point conversions are there

Laterals = I'm not even sure if you can do that in Madden I haven't played it since 2004

Re: penalties

Someone suggested that there's field distance and first down yards to go customizability. How does that affect the penalties? Will a normal 10-yard penalty under NFL rules be a 15-yard penalty when playing 4 downs, 15 yards to go football?

Only outdoors.

Yes

Yes

Yes

There is no such thing; it is either a lateral or a pass.

Passes? Yes

Laterals? Not sure. There can be HB passes.

Yes

Canadian, American, and a form of Indoor rules are supported. Some of these can be mixed and matched as well. Some specific European rules are not in the game at this time. Even some new rules for the Canadian League will not be in the game at launch.

There are default sets of penalties for each "game type" Canadian, American, and Indoor. They are "representative" and not exhaustive. They are defined independantly of the 'rules' based on the game type you start modding rules form.

You can go into the data files (assuming you have excel or Access) and tweak with the yards a given penalty awards, and if it generates an automatic first down for example. but that doesn't happen "automatically" by customizing the rules.

The point of the game is not to be a "perfect" recreation of any particular league, but to give you the power to come "pretty close" to any given league, and to create new leagues with variations on the "basics".

That sounds pretty sweet, really.
