Opponent 1st and goal from the 3 yd line. They run I stop them and get a facemask penalty. Now it is 1st and goal from the back of the endzone! His offensive line is behind my defensive line and in front of my linebackers! So I stopped him on the next play for a touchdown!

Which rules (US, CAn, Indoor) are you playing?

A quickplay or league game?

Wow, that's a new one indeed. Do you by any chance have a save game? Trying to duplicate a facemask penalty while on the 3 yard line may take us a little time, but we'll definitely check into this combination.

If you save and re-load, does it return to normal?

Regards,

- Erik

Sorry, no save game. Have not been able to do anything. I alt-tabbed out and cannot get back to the game.

Sonny,

Ok, let us know if you are able to get a save for it eventually. We'll try it on this side and if we can duplicate it we'll get a fix into the first update.

Regards,

- Erik

I have been able to restore when alt-tab out, unless this is something that broke in the release version or only for certain hardware combinations. We'll take a look at that as well.

Okay... sounds like the official 'first post release bug'.

The issues policy is Crashes and lock ups get addressed first and game play issues second. This is a game play issue.

I will look at this over the weekend but I will need to see what other issues present themselves in the next 72 hours or so and build a priority list.

Thanks
I hope you're finding the game fun regardless of this problem.

A similar thing happened to me in beta. Please check that the rules you selected in the bottom right of the screen going into the kickoff match the teams you are using.

What field are you using, and what rules and teams are being set up?

Here's a screenshot of the wacky penalty bug. Got a facemask penalty on the 3 yard line or so using Arena rules using v1080DR from the beta server.

I just click all the next buttons in quick play but I also put the mouse in the box under where it says coaching.

I had the same thing happen to me.

Ball on 1 yrd line. 5 yrd penalty called. Ball spotted about 8 yards deep in the end zone.

Next play - my running back was stopped for a loss but a touchdown was awarded.

I thought I had a screen shot but I can't find it

Same thing happened to me, I got called for a facemask and so the next play was at my -15 yard line. Then, due to limitations of where the players could stand, I kept getting called offsides.

I'd post a screenshot if I could figure out how...

Sounds like a problem with ... the size of the player's shoes.

Or maybe the facemask penalty.

I had two similar problems in a Canadian quick-play game. Halifax had the ball on Regina's 1 yard line. Regina got a delay of game penalty, and Halifax now had the ball 3 yards into the end-zone.

The next time, Regina had the ball on Halifax's 1 yard line. Regina gets a delay of game penalty. Regina is only penalized 1 yard. They now have the ball on the 2 yard line.

It almost looks like the code is getting confused about when the 'half the distance to the goal line' rule is to be invoked. The code is getting it backwards.

Translation: Even though you paid me money for this product, your issue is pretty minor compared to some of the other crap we let through beta testing.

We've got these issues on the list - the penalty system was high priority for another look after release and we will make sure this gets addressed quickly.

Regards,

- Erik
