Incase work is still continuing on a new patch for SPWAW Id like to report these bugs/issues:

1. The beach landing sides are still not working correctly. You may still start the battle on the wrong side whit your landing ships on the ground. Changing the "Weather" value seems to mess it up more. This is happening on the lates 8.403 beta version. Although small improvement from 8.4 is noticable it is not fixed completely. Beach landings worked in v.8.2 (and 8.3).

2. If the player sets the Weather value he cant change any other value (Turns for example) or the weather gets a random value when the battle starts. Sometimes you can get thunder storms even if you changed the wether to 1 (clear). Also strike element availability depends on the weaher so this should be fixed. To my knowledge this particular issue has been in all the versions of SPWAW at least from 4.5 onwards.

3. Driving trough buildings seems too easy. I remember that this was changed after v.7.0, but I really think the vehicles should have a little more chance for imobilization. Now players can plow trough even 6 hexes buildings whit a light APC and not be imobilized. This ruins alot of the city fights when players take ridiculous shortcuts whit their tanks and halftracks trough buildings and assaulting infantry at the middle.

4. Has Mike Woods been informed of the various "oddities" experienced in the online game? Could this part of the game code be revised?

FOR ONLINE GAMES

The change weather thing definately doesnt work.
it chooses what it wants no matter what you set.

also Air entry and exit doesnt seem to work anymore.
also "number of turns" has to be the last pref selected or it doesnt "stick".

and I agree with driving thru buildings is too easy.
dont know about the beach thing I have never seen this.

Mike did not do the Online part of the game, probably why it is messed up...
but he said he will look into these issues when he works on spwaw again.

Alby, you can do a quick test to see the beach landing bug. Start a battle whit USMC assault vs. Japan defend whit the "BEACH" setting. It should show up fine whit USMC on landing crafts in the ocean. Now start a battle whit Japan Defend vs. USMC Assault, "BEACH" (player sides swapped). USMC starts on land whit landing crafts and Japanese defenders are on the sea.

Your post didn't specify online games, it says "also Air entry and exit doesnt seem to work anymore."

He's right. In generated battles, this still happens once in awhile. It may be one of those corrupted steel.prf things. I HAVE noticed this in a few test battles.

Air entry / exit is working fine in a current PBEM (v8.403).

No idea about online games, but for PBEM the weather / turns etc thing seems to work best if you set in the following order:

1. # of turns

2. weather

3. visibility

You still get some oddities, but at least much fewer than otherwise.

Also - in desert games the weather seems to set to 'sandstorm' quite regularly, no matter what order you set the preferences in.
