Let's talk about something else... I think the range of the Betty needs to be increased, and it should be able to carry more torpedoes.

true. The Zero needs to be made more lethal too.

No no no no........torpedos were available only in Hiroshima and Tokyo. They were far too unstable to be toted overseas in boats. Betties and Nells should only be able to carry bombs unless they launch an AM strike from Tokyo or Hiroshima or from a base with a supply path to those cities.

Oh they are, they are..... I have a 1.5:1 ratio of ops losses to AA and flak losses. OPS losses are obviously taking into account malaria, typhus, dysentery, STDs and raging mess cooks with butcher knives along with actual deaths from non-combat crashes.

Well, clearly the game is biased against the Japanese. B-17 production should be dropped to 2 a month, no make that 2 a year and they should be stripped of all defensive armament. In fact, they should automatically explode at the mere sight of a zero.

And the Zero should have a lot more attacks in air-to-air combat. It's a matter of historical record that the Japanese pilots could shoot down 10 or 15 Corsairs in one pass.

Well, that was only when they refrained from using their cannons. When those kicked in, one Zero could take out a whole Fighter Group...

Yeah, the first pass was just from leading-edge vortices causing stalls on the famously unstable, underpowered F4U's.

Actually, it is a little known fact that they would fire their machine guns only until they got into Samari sword range, then they would throw open the cockpit and hack of the wings of the passing planes. I am seriously disappointed that WitP does not model this technique.

Edit: actually wouldn't a samari sword swinging zero pilot make an awesome avatar for a Japanese fanboy.

Most F4U pilots would bail out at the sight of a Zero, unlike the unhistorical, farcical representation of F4U pilots in "Black Sheep Squadron".

Wish I were an artist. I would also love to create an avatar with an AVG pilot, flying a P-40B right at the viewer, P-40s guns blazing, cockpit open and both arms extened firing colt 45, with World War I style scarf trailing in the wind. That would be hilarious.

Nothing....I made it up!

Gaijin is Japanese for foreigner (I think?). Might be "barbarian"....it's not a nice name, I don't believe.

This is true, because japanese pilots weren't trained in deflection shooting and in fact, could only hit the broad side of a barn door when they were parked on the ground and positioned directly behind the target.

Really? Interesting. Why on earth would they not be trained in deflection shooting, considering how rigirous their training was. Of course, it was probably considered a waste of bullets and the only real way to shoot down a plane was from behind.

Actually they were....quite extensively. Lundstrom and Peattie documented it. dont tell anyone though.

BTW - you might want to check what's going on at your place - sources say a hit hit squad broke in, but then found your liquor supply...
