Which patch are you working with?

I am confused here, because I had the field goal punts working, but now when I go in, it isn't. I'll try to see what the problem is.

First I'll just check to see if the punt play works. If it does, the 99 yard setting will be moot.

It's the latest patch...1.092.

For some reason, if the computer controls the team, it works when set to 99. But the error comes up with human controlled teams. I am not sure why, as a 99 on a 100 yard US-2 field is pretty much the same as a 50 on a 50 yard indoor field.

That is sort of odd. I was hoping to try this out as I'm working on an 8-man Playbook. I don't mind kicking Feildgoal attempts as punts.

I have been building a 2-2-4 defense for 8 man. It would probably best apply to the outdoor game. I will make it available when it is complete.

Awesome Deft, I was going to be working on one of those myself. I think it will work great in 8 man outdoor.

I thought the game required 8-man Defensive plays to have 3 Down Defensive Linemen? I hven't messed with Defensive plays yet so I haven't tested this yet.

Nope, I just checked it out and you can put the defensive players on the field as you'd like. You can even have 0 d-line.

Hi guys....

I've been reading your thread again and it's coinciding with a league I've been considering creating based upon my college fraternity flag football teams. Of course we wouldn't be using flags.

In my old league we had eight man teams (my fraternity only had eight members; damn we were tired at the end of a game!) and was played on an open field probably as large as a US Amatuer field. The only thing really oddball compared to what you are conceiving in this thread is that we didn't punt or kick field goals or extra points; basically we ran or passed for four downs and you either scored or the ball was turned over.

Without making you guys do any leg work for me (don't want to be a pain!), has anyone the quick answer to the question, can the kicking game be turned off entirely?

Now, that's an interesting notion, but I doubt it. You would still need kickoffs after scores. I have no problems at all with no punts in the game, it really makes in interesting when you are stuck in your side of the field. Of course if we go with no punting, we may want to adjust the kickoff location to around the 30 or 40 to give decent starting field position.

Any word on this

sorry for bumping this thread

I like everything about arena football except for the size of the field.
I wanna make a development league with 20 man rosters cuz it's alot easier to manage the rosters :)

Yes the stats are a little insane but the scoring is not as high because of the length of the field

I've been working beta, so I have not had much time to work on this.

I still like it though.

I've been working on some plays, but there are still bugs and crashes when kicking field goals to serve as a punt even when field goals are "live." Other than that, the gameplay is fun and exciting.

Has anyone ever gotten a league game to play? I can only get it to play in quick play. During league play I get missing mandatory plays pop-up.

Kudos for that.

I also noticed that the outside run isn't as effective anymore and I was using a Canadian field.

Kudos for that also Dave

I put the field goal posts up to the goal line so they can kick it from a farther distance

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I have begun building my 8 man outdoor playbook. Its going to be pretty weird with some 1 DL and 5 DB sets.

What exactly should be fixed...the live field goal/punt issue? I've been holding off a bit doing anything because of this bug; I'll be happy to have it fixed.

The latest patch has made the 8 man outdoor league viable. But until the lineup on man issue of the CPU snapping the ball before the DBs can get to their assigned players, a fully implemented league won't be ready.

Some observations, I have gone to a 224 and it defends fairly well with a 2 or 3 deep zone. You can get good pressure off the ends and up the middle with the LBs. Because there is so much space its hard to get the OL to be really effective and you can get pressure with just two rushers. The run game is limited because traps and pulling OL are just not possible. The passing game is wide open but I haven't been able to get a good test because of the line up issue.

So far been liking it

But sometimes on Kick Returns the kick returners don't move. I'm not sure if this is one of the plays Marauders said he had to fix.

I have been looking at 8-man with US Rules as a start. The changes are No Fair Catch, Live Kicks, Rouge On.

Live field goals are fun when used with the rouge and field goals as punts. It is wide open!

If we want a standard 8 man ruleset, we need to know if unlimited motion could be used like in Indoor and Canadian rules. The number of blitzing players allowed needs to be known. Limits on defensive linemen lining up outside of the tackle box needs to be addressed.

Quarter length, time outs, the minute warning, and play clock need to be set.

I like 12 or 10 minute quarters with a 30 or 35 second clock and two time outs. I'd leave the warning at two minutes with a 12 minute quarter but drop it to one minute with a 10 minute quarter.

Here's what I proposed from a previous post:

Here's my two cents:

Field Size: US-2 (this is the historical close hashes correct?)
Downs: 4
Fair Catch: No
End Line Goals: Yes
Unlimited Motion: No
Live Field Goals: Yes
Rouge: Yes
2 Point Converts: Yes

Max Players: 8
Ball: US
Referee Style: Loose
Penalties: US
Overtime: 10
Kickoff From: 25
PAT From: 5
Two Point From: 5
Timeouts: 2

TD: 6
PAT: 1
FG: 3
Safety: 2

Play Clock: 30
Minute Warning: 2
Quarter Length: 10

Rosters: 20

Offense Parameters: 5 men on LOS; 1 man in motion only
Defense Parameters: 3 men pass rushing max

Interesting Rules set. I haven't messed much with 8-man Outdoor Football, but I think joining an internet league setup like this would be very fun.

I use it on the Canadian Field, it kinda makes the score less higher

If I use the rouge will that make them kick the ball off if the field goal is missed, or will they just start from where the ball is missed?

Maybe it depends on Feild Size. I haven't experimented with this but maybe if you choose a Canadian size feild, Rouges would result in 1 point if a Missed FG goes out Of bounds.

I kinda hope this is how its done, because I kinda prefer the way Indoor Football handles Rouges. I say if you pick an American Size feild, Rouges should work similar to how they are done in many Indoor leagues. On the other hand, there might be some people that prefer the way Rouges work in the Canadian game instead.

On a US-2 field, I have had rouge points on a short field goal that bounced out the back of the endzone and on missed field goals that sailed through the endzone. I like the rouge in 8-man outdoor play, as it awards ball movement with points.

In my opinion, the whole point of 8-man outdoor play is that playing in space allows more ball movement and scoring.

Skycast, why don't you like unlimited motion like Indoor and Canadian rules have?

What about defensive linemen having to line up within the tackle box?
