Just received WitP (CD) and loaded it up. Unfortunately, once the computer gets part way through executing my first turn, the screen goes black and my PC re-boots. My PC is an Alienware Aurora, with plenty of cpu power and memory, so my question is, what am I doing wrong, or what is the fix? I downloaded and installed the v160 patch, still no joy. TIA, Bill

similar problem, one or two turns after the beginning, it crashes. No matter what the version is, same problem same time. I tried all versions, from original 1.00 to latest 1.60

My PC, IBM ThinkPad T42 CPU Centrino 1.8 Menory 1G ATI Mobile Radeon 9600 OS Windows XP Pro SP2

Really wanna play this game, thanks for helping...

Neither one of you will want to hear this, but most likely, one or more of your drivers are not up to date. Sorry.

Test one - rename the SOUND directory to NOSOUND. This will prevent any sounds from playing. If your game will run that way, then you know it is in the sound system. If they still crash, then try updating your video card driver. Make sure all the other things have been done like running a disk checker, defragger, anti-spyware, AV scan, etc. I have had the game since it came out and the only CTD was when I forgot and used the back button a few times( never use any of the back buttons, use exit ).

One other thing I can think of now, WitP is a VERY CPU intensive game( runs at 100%). It could be either a heat or power supply problem.
