Like the subject line says, has anybody done an updated version of the USN SC class? I looked at the shipside the other day, and realised how inferior it is, considering all the great art that's out there...

Yamatama Maru - possibly worlds largest cargo ship -
46000 plus grt - apparently Brazilian built

Irako - actually a reefer of medium size - formerly called an "AE" in WITP - should be an AK

Thank you, I'm getting into this artwork stuff. I'd also like to give a big thanks to CobraAus for his fantastic backgrounds.

I might do that, if I can find someone who'll upload them onto their website. I've also done most of the Commomnwealth planes as well.

If anybody wants to have a go. This is the Japanese subtender Taigei, a fictitious vessel by Alt_Naval. It's a 14,000-tonner of 613 feet.

You know, I just checked my Jane's after that post, and you're right...

EDIT: the picture in Jane's (which looks a lot like Alt_Naval's shipside) and JnSide0107, which the stock Taigei uses, look nothing alike. Request repeated.

The AS Taigei was re-worked by me days ago. Here you are, and the ZIP on my page.

In real life, yeah, the Taigei was converted to the Ryuho. My mod, though, isn't a serious attempt at redoing history (we have CHS for that), and I need the subtenders after having redone the whole Japanese submarine arm.

This is a ship that could seriously use new artwork. I'm playing the CHS, and in it this ship does not have anything near the grace that photographs show. Her bow is too blunt, she seems truncated, generally disappointing... I'm not meaing to hurt the feelings of whoever drew her, but I just think that she could be seriously improved.

Forget about the Taigei. Alikchi is sending me Cobra's shipside for the Shiushu, which is basically identical.

I thought you were talking about the Taigei, Brad. Missed the change in subject line. Cobra's redone the Manxman (or Abdiel class), ages ago, on my commission, actually. I've got the sides if you want them.

Note quite ficticious - just not completed in this form! She was rebuilt - and renamed - as a carrier - as was her sister. They were designed so they could be fast oilers, seaplane tenders or light carriers - whatever was required.

I know. It was a common hull. Didn't research all the way before I made the post... With all the "what-if" stuff on Alt_Naval's site, I figured he'd made up those as well.
